Historical Perspectives: The IWC Ceramic Fliegerchronograph Reference 3705, A Look Back At A Rare Mo
One of the rarest and most interesting IWC watches of the last few decades is one that a lot of newer IWC clients and fans might not even have heard of: the long out-of-production reference 3705, ceramic cased “Fliegerchronograph” or Pilot’s Chronograph. The Fliegerchronograph was first introduced by IWC in 1994 (a follow-on from an almost completely forgotten hybrid quartz-mechanical watch, the 36 mm “Pilot’s Watch Chronograph,” which debuted at the Dübendorf Airfield, near Zurich, all the way back in 1988). The ceramic cased "Fliegerchronograph Keramik" 3705 was introduced in the same year as the standard stainless steel version, reference 3706. We covered 3705 in a comparison with a modern ceramic IWC pilot's chrono almost four years ago, so we thought it might be time to take another look. 1 OF 7 3705 was not the first ceramic cased watch made by IWC. Just another stainless steel chrono?! But this time...
really really rare! Something special that keeps a low profile...something what you can wear whereever whenevere Enough descreet if you meet clients or potential clients. For sure the 5711 was the trigger for my insight that high-end watches could be in ordinary steel too. First for a considerable time I lust for the regularly 5950 with the silvery white opaline dial. But there were doubts, because I am a sucker for dark dials. Then at Baselworld 2015 a limited black dial version was luckily introduced. What could be more descreet than a ordinary stainless steel chrono with dark dial?A grand complication in steel with black dial as slim as possible based on a extra slim movement is...UnderstatedDescreetJust beautifulI thought this will be my exit watch if I am able to get one, but it's not! It's the entry to watch heaven...I hope you enjoy the pictures.
Patek 5726 1A White or Grey Dial?
I might be pulling the trigger on a 5726 1A soon. Which dial do you prefer?
AD warranty vs Rolex warrenty on new DJ II
Is it true that when ADs discount a watch significantly because it's a discontinued model (in this case the discontinued DJII) Rolex pulls its warrenty? That's what my AD told me today that she would give me a full 5 year warranty but through the AD not through Rolex and that I would not get the warranty card!!It's a BNIB watch with a really nice discount (almost 30%) Is the above true?Does it make sense?Should I go for it?Is it an issue Not having the Rolex warranty card ?Thanks
