Breguet Sponsors Louvre Restoration
Montres Breguet S.A. held a gala dinner at the Louvre Museum in Paris on June 17, highlighting its role as a major sponsor of the restoration of the museum's Department of Decorative Arts rooms and galleries devoted to the art of French living in the 18th century. Those rooms, encompassing 2,500 square feet of space, had been closed to the public for nearly 10 years during the renovation. The entire area has been revamped and is now reopened to the public.Breguet's patronage of the renovation began in 2009 under the direction of the late Nicolas G. Hayek Sr., then CEO of Montres Breguet and chairman of the Swatch Group. The firm contributed several million euros to the project. The Louvre restoration is the latest in a series of patronage projects Montres Breguet has undertaken in Paris and Versailles in recognition of the strong connection of Abraham-Louis Breguet with those places. A-L. Breguet was born in Neuchatel, Switzerland in 1747, but he studied watchmaking in France and opened
How Software Helps Design Complicated Watches Like The Franck Muller Giga Tourbillon
When it comes to watches, especially mechanical watches, there is no denying that they are incredibly complex miniature machines. Have you wondered how those watches are designed and validated before the first piece of metal is cut? This used to be entirely done by hand with drawings and slow prototyping. However, starting in the 1990s, the watch industry has moved toward using design and engineering software to create everything from cases to movements.SolidWorks is a software suite that many high-end watch makers rely on to design and test movements digitally. In a recent video we can see how a Franck Muller movement design can come together, such as the Giga Gong Tourbillon we're seeing in CAD.Frankly, after watching something like this, it seems almost indescribable that watchmakers were able to advance the craft as they did before the advent of tools like this. ?Of course, it probably involved a lot of trial and error, and fiddly modification of parts - in other words, quite a bit

Is this a silly trade?
I have a 116238 all gold datejust that I was thinking about doing an even trade for a pre-owned 116503 2016 box and papers and a Turnograph 116264 old new stock still stickered. I have always wanted a Turnograph and a Daytona. I do wear my gold datejust but it is super heavy on the wrist and has not been the most comfortable to wear.
