Beyond the berWatches: 5 (Possibly) Overlooked Watches from SIHH 2014
At this year’s SIHH, as per usual, the lion’s share of buzz and attention went to a handful of “headliner watches,” or, as we at WatchTime have dubbed them, “berwatches,” even though most of the watch brands each released a dozen or more new products for 2014. And even when a brand doesn’t have what we’d call an berwatch, it sometimes releases one piece so unexpected, off-the-wall, or controversial that it overshadows the rest of its new releases (Exhibit A: Last year’s debut of the first Ralph Lauren tourbillon). Here are some of the interesting watches from SIHH 2014 that may have flown under your radar while you were paying attention to the headliners. What you’ve probably heard about: The Jaeger-LeCoultre Hybris Mechanica 11 Master Ultra-Thin Minute Repeater Flying Tourbillon, one of the most techologically advanced timepieces at the show, which nabbed the title of world’s thinnest minute repeater. Seamaster Nato
Anybody wear their SMP on a Nato? I have the 2254.50 and was wondering how it would look. Any pictures?
Second Iconing in a Week and Done
for the past year so have been chasing watch euphoria. Some of you may have seen my posts, Yachtmaster Rose Gold, YG Sub, JC Deeps Sea, Bluesey, and recently a Smurf. I have been searching for sub happieness for quite some time. And everyone one of those sung to me initially but after a short period of time, I lost interest. For the past year I chased the infamous SD43 at my AD and finally gave up and recently, with the help of Thanh I scored big time. And then I had one more itch and it was green. Green not only is the color of money but it is my favorite color. And while I never liked it the first few times I saw it, and many of you can agree, it grew on me. Thanks to DavidSW, I have my second incoming if the week. To finance these, I did sell the Smurf and the Deepsea which helped put some extra money in my savings which was quickly depleted on my watch flipping odessey. I think I am finally and truly happy, until the next one I love how the green has so many different shades from
Air King or Milgauss ?
Since both are basically the same watch (almost), what would you choose ?
SD43 On Scene
Wow, you guys were right. This might be the perfect watch.Size? Perfect.Dial? Perfect.Glidelock? Brilliant.Bezel? Perfect.I traded an Explorer 214270 and a Sea Dweller 16600 plus cash for the SD43. Recently both those just felt too small, and I realized how much I use the date function so I rarely wore either.I’m trilled, best decision ever. For reference, my wrist is about 6.75”, and it wears more like a 41mm imo.Photo with a PAM1312 and DJII 116334.Thanks to Davidsw, a true gentleman and a pleasure to deal with. What’s next? Big Pilot maybe. Or a Chrono...IWC Pilot Chrono or Speedy. Maybe a DaytonaC if prices ever come back to earth.
