My First Grail Watch: Xavier Nolot of Audemars Piguet
Welcome back to an original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch." In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. Today, we're speaking with Xavier Nolot, the CEO Audemars Piguet North America. For his First Grail, he went back to very beginning, calling out a lowly LCD-equipped watch as his first.watches-dealer (ABTW): Who are you, and what is your relationship to the watch industry?Xavier Nolot (XN): I'm the CEO for Audemars Piguet for the Americas. I joined the industry and Audemars Piguet 11 years ago, after a career in the energy industry. My relationship with watchmaking comes from this dual background: first as an engineer passionate about technology and how things work, and second as a observer of a craft that has as much to do with art as with science.ABTW: When did your fascination with watches start?XN: As a child in the early eighties, watches were those tiny mechanisms you could open and try to dec
Franck Muller Custom Oppa Gangnam Style Watch For PSY
Franck Muller, the always interesting and sometimes over-the-top Swiss watchmaker has produced a one-of-a-kind timepiece apparently for Korean musical artist PSY. Depicting PSY doing his more than well-known horse riding dance right on the dial, the likely 18k white gold or platinum watch is full pave covered with diamonds. Black diamonds are used to fill in the large Roman numerals and the image of PSY dancing is likely hand painted. The watch image was shared direct from a Franck Muller insider so for sure it is a legit piece for the pop superstar. PSY's famous Gangnam Style music video on YouTube (as of this article) has over 1.5 billion views. I suppose it was about time to treat himself (or perhaps it is a gift to PSY). franckmullerwatches-dealer
50 min to go, patience or a lack of it...
Morning all My 15300 has been sleeping in the bank vault for 2 weeks now as I was spending a lot of time away from home. Now waiting patiently, or impatiently for the bank to open so I can get the smile back on my face.HAGD
Back to Omega - 9300 and NATO content
After being Omega-less for the last few months, I'm back and very pleased. When I tried this on at the Omega boutique the other day, I started losing sleep. I've always been a Moonwatch fan, but always thought the Speedy 9300 was too big, thick, expensive...and not an original Moonwatch. I spent almost an hour trying it on, looking at all of the options and comparing it to previous Omegas that I have flipped. This watch is very comfortable likely due to being well balanced. Much has been written here about the watch (I know cuz I read most of the posts researching) so I'll spare you the additional review. Also, if you are wondering if the NATOs are worth the steep price of admission, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Thanks for looking, Gil!
New 5960's
What do we think of the 2 new 5960's? I kinda like the bkue dial on strap, if I was looking for a cool chrono with AC I would definitely consider it. Anyone wanting to take the plunge on one?Just wonder how will prices hold as we know they haven't been great on the other 5960's, but for an interesting Patek with complications, at a reasonable price, it is quite in a hard range to beat IMG_0388.PNGIMG_0389.PNGIMG_0390.PNG
