BEST FROM: watches-dealer & Friends February 14, 2014
Happy Valentine's Day dear readers! We begin February by taking a look at Breva's new Genie 02 Altimeter watch and one of the earliest Rolex Submariners, the iconic Reference 6200 Big Crown . Speaking of divers, we are also are taking a closer look at Audemars Piguet's new striking all-white ceramic Offshore Diver. Finally, we learn more about the history of Patek Philippe's perpetual calendar chronograph watches and what makes them so special, and see what are the most noteworthy ladies watches from this year's SIHH.1. Important Early Cartier Men's WatchesMany of you might regard Cartier as a jewelry brand, but did you that they were in fact one of the pioneers of wrist watches? Today the brand makes some very high-end and exciting pieces, such as Rotonde de Cartier Astrocalendaire Watch, but their roots were simpler, though no less important. Here is a look at some very early Cartier watches.Source:?watches-dealer2. Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Automatique 5015 Watch ReviewBlancpain's Fi
First AP: Royal Oak or RO Chrono?
I am thinking about picking up my first AP. I have long been a Panerai Collector and am thinking about venturing into the world of AP. I thought I wanted a ROO at first, but after looking at a bunch, I have decided that I like the clean lines of the normal Royal Oak or RO chrono. I understand that the Chrono does not have an in house movement, and I can live with that since I am used to the Older Panerai's having the same thing. I am a bit torn between the 41mm black dial Royal Oak and the same black dial Chrono. Any opinions or suggestions? Thanks in Advance.Jordan
First Experience with Clearwater Service Center
So as some of you may know from my older post, i just got a used 15300 Royal Oak which arrived running several minutes fast per day. I sent it off the the AP service center in clearwater for diagnosis and repair. The watch is just over three years old but the previous owner never signed up for the third year warranty so the warranty period was expired. I was afraid I was going to get slammed with a 1k+ repair bill on a watch i had just purchased. Anyway, just hours after receiving my watch, I got a call from Betsy at AP customer service. She told me they were currently diagnosing my watch and that I would get a call the next morning with the diagnosis and repair estimate. This morning bright and early, I get another call from Betsy saying that the watch is apparently running fast due to displaced oils causing the hairspring to stick. She told me that even though the watch is out of warranty, they are going to do a complete service for free and give me a two year warranty on the watch.
Steel, Steel, Steel & a Touch of Gold!
Just sharing (iPhone pics) 99% of stainless steel pieces and 1% of white gold (markers). Now if I can work on 99% platinum & 1% white gold. Ahhh, that's what dreams are made of. In due time I suppose...
