Introducing The Nomos True Blue Zurich Weltzeit, A Favorite Receives A New Dial, And In-House Escape
You would be hard-pressed to find a more somber blue on the color palette, but that’s just how we like our Bauhaus – subdued and straightforward. The new True Blue Zurich Weltzeit is NOMOS’ chic take on its exquisite GMT that made headlines a few years back (check out this old-skool Week on the Wrist) and a recent appearance at HODINKEE’S event to welcome NOMOS to the States earlier this summer. Let’s dive right in.It’s unlikely for a HODINKEE reader to be unfamiliar with NOMOS, but just in case you haven’t had the privilege of being introduced to the younger German – here’s a quick preface. NOMOS Glashütte was born in '91 in the little town of Glashütte, Germany. If that name sounds familiar, that's because it’s also the birthplace of A. Lange & Söhne, the house that pioneered the three-quarter plate. Nivarox was patented here, and clearly, pedigree is contagious in this environment. 2 OF 3
My AP ROO Diver "mini review" !
Hello all !Having been absent here for quite a while I would like to give a mini review of my newly acquired Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver. Its a watch that I have been secretly dreaming of for a long time, but I have always thought that it would be outside my reach. But looking at my collection of watches recently I arrived at the conclusion that it would indeed now be possible - only hurdle was that it required sacrificing a couple of watches that I was very fond of. However having given it a little more thought I realized that none of the watches in question would be impossible for me to reacquire. So off to one of the many danish good guy used watch dealers I went - swapped my Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra, my Rolex Sea Dweller triple 6 and an Omega Constellation Pie Pan and returned home a happy camper wearing the AP ROO Diver on a bracelet on my wrist :-)At this time I have had the watch for a couple of weeks and would like to share my first impressions of it with you.Weig
Oooops, I did it again!!!!
Some time in late September, I decided to step out of my Panerai and Rolex shell and go for a sporty Patek. I was fortunate to have all the fellow Patek owners here who gave some very valuable inputs. In came this beauty:She was stunning and the blue dial, absolutely mesmerizing. The 5711 was like a piece of art that is ready for the Guggenheim museum. On the other hand, it was also dressy, classy and just Pierce Brosnan like cool! However, I am no Pierce Brosnan. I am mostly a jean and t-shirt guy and according to my wife, goofy. The thinner 5711 case along with the sharp and dressy feel and I just did not jive. 5711 maybe perfect for most, unfortunately, it was not for me. 5167 is also out of the picture since the case is about the same thickness as the 5711 and a tad too thin for my taste. Thus, the choice was simple. I wanted a rubber sporty look in a slightly thicker case and 5164 has it all. For me, this is the perfect blend of form, vs. functionality, a sporty kick a
My first Panerai and removing the crown guard.
Just got my PAM-112 today and I'm pretty much extatic.Just wanted to ask if it would be sensible to remove the two screws holding the crown guard in place to dettach it. The crown guard is full of gunk (because I bought a used one) and I would like to run it in my ultrasound cleaner (basically suspend it into water that's vibrating really fast). Do you see any reason not to?
