Frederique Constant Slimline Moonphase Review
The price of a watch is such a loaded topic that it's sometimes difficult to make head or tails of. There are so many considerations, layers, factors, etc that go into that price tag. From the region it was manufactured in to marketing and PR to provenance to simply the positioning of the brand in the market, it all effects the cost in the end. We've all seen watches with prices that are too good to be true that largely get ignored by the watch world as well as watches that clearly cost too much, yet have devout followings. As a website dedicated to affordable and accessible watches (which there is a difference between) we try to find watches that exemplify good qualities from build to design that have seemingly honest price tags (another loaded term). The watch we are going to discuss today is expensive compared to much of what we discuss, yet remarkably well priced for what it is. It might not be "affordable", but it's accessible in that the price is not so stratospheric that it coul
Here's a bit of a rare bird...Vintage Seamaster Chronometer
Just got this one back from my watchmaker after a routine overhaul. This is an all original circa 1969 Omega Seamaster Chronometer Automatic with quick set Date with the highly acclaimed cal. 564 Chronometer movement. This watch is considered fairly rare (especially in this condition) due to the fact that the cal. 564 Chronometer was typically only seen in the Omega Constellations of this era. I just love the classic size, golden dial with matching gold applied Omega logo and stick hour markers with the matching gold hands...quite the package I must say. Not only does it look good and wear very comfortably with the original omega bracelet; but it also keeps incredibly accurate time. One of my favorites in my recently slimmed down eight watch rotation.Frank
5208p
Greetings TRF,A few months ago I started a thread with a little review of the Patek Philippe 5235g. In this review I thought that, despite the fact that I do not own this timepiece, I could give you my opinion on a couple of points regarding it. Ever since I did that (and discussed those points with other great members around here) I've had the idea of doing another one on a piece that I consider really special, the Patek Philippe 5208p.Here are some personal observations about this timepiece:- In my very first review I tried to be as critical (without trying to sound pompous or arrogant) as I could about the Patek Philippe regulator. Alas (although I think it is a very good thing) I don't think I can find a bad thing to say about this one. The dial, case, movement and complications are just outstanding and I think this particular watch really helps us to appreciate the brand's quality and its watchmakers' talent: finding a way to make a triple complications watch look that simple is s
682 Incoming!
Visited the Panerai store while on vacation in Florence. Tried the 682 on and fell in love. Didn't buy there because of no discount and vat was equal to buying at retail in the states plus dollar was at 1.24.. So my good buddy Thanh (Takuya) coincidentally got a 3 month old one in a few days upon my return to the states! It was meant for me! The way it feels on is amazing! 42mm is perfect for my 6.5 wrist!
