Affordable Vintage: O&W Caribbean 1000
As you well know, there are tons and tons of vintage divers out there, something for everyone's taste. With that said, there are some that stand out from the crowd a bit, and the Ollech and Wajs Caribbean 1000 is one of them. Ollech and Wajs (O&W) made a plethora of great divers and chronographs in their heyday in the sixties and seventies, but by far the most desirable is the Caribbean 1000. O&W teamed up with the Jenny Watch company and used their reference 702 case for this model. Jenny made several cases that were branded with a variety of different makes just like the EPSA Super Compressor and Squale case makers. The O&W Caribbean was only made for a few short years during the mid to late 1960's. The Jenny reference 702 case housed many other brands like Jaquet Droz, Haste deLuxe, Philip and Jenny themselves to name a few.The Jenny 702 is a monobloc (one piece, front loading) steel case measuring 40mm wide by 45mm long with a thickness of 16mm and 20mm lugs. 40mm sits
Patek vs. Lange
Not my intention to get folks riled up over this, just hoping we can have a nice objective chat. Of course I'm well aware of Patek's history and why people love them, but I'm also aware of Lange's existence and can't help but wonder why someone might chose a Patek over a Lange. I'm hoping you more experienced folks can help me understand. A Patek will likely always win out insofar as bragging rights go with the general public, no doubt. It's got much broader recognition, while Lange will only really be recognized by true horology buffs, but is brand recognition the only reason to buy a wawtch? To me, Lange's, while cheaper (relative to the comparable Patek), seem to feature finishes and movements which are just on another level. But I aspire to own both and am not bashing Patek in any way, just trying to understand each brands place, especially when they offer several similar offerings.

Is ladies Datejust 36 SS a "sought after" model?
Sorry, I am a newb to Rolexes (I am into other vices :-)). My wife really likes a specific Datejust 36 (model m116200-0070) and as I am doing research, I am seeing that ADs don't really discount sought after models. Before I waste time trying to find AD, who will give me better than MSRP, should I either bother with this watch, or just walk into store in NH (where there is no tax, like in MA) and just get it there? Not looking 2nd hand, since well, my wifey is not interested.
