Baselworld 2015: The Movado 1881 Collection
At Baselworld this year, Movado showed its all-new collection of men’s automatic watches. The 1881 Automatic Collection combines familiar Movado design characteristics with elements of the brand’s revamped look C all with a reliable Swiss movement inside. The 1881 Automatic is a three-hand watch with a date display at 6 o’clock. It has the spare, stark appeal that has characterized Movado ever since the “Museum” watch became the centerpiece of the brand in the 1980s. That watch, and those that followed it, were defined by the prominent concave dot at 12 o’clock. In recent years, Movado has moved beyond this completely minimalist design to incorporate some other elements on the dial. The 1881 Automatic is a good example of this: it has a subdued minutes track, which has been stamped on the dial, and applied hour indexes. Baselworld Best Watches: Top 11 For 2011
The end of Baselworld is like coming down off a really brutal high. The intense energy of the show is only matched by how busy you are. Nights are filled with long European style dinners that take forever, but go by quickly as the conversation is engaging. Watch lovers can be themselves - this is our week. The best part is by far the people; the gossip, the laughs, and thankfully this year the optimism. More orders than last year seems to be a sober but enthusiastic claim made across the board. Few brands leave without smiles on their faces, while the major brands are all celebrating due to increased sales in key markets. If retailers are buying watches then it means they have a pretty good reason to think they can sell them. It will still take a year or two before many US ret
Got to try on a 15400
I finally got to try on a 15400 and some other ROOs. The bracelet catches light at every angle, much much flashier than I expected. What do you think? Does it look big on my wrist?
Sanity Check - Anyone own more than 1 Royal Oak?
I currently have a 15450 white dial and strongly considering adding a 15202. Don't plan on flipping the 15450 just enjoy it too much. So anyone else own more than one such as a Jumbo and conventional Royal Oak or same model RO but different colors? Or will I be the only nut out there? Thanks All -
