Watches NEWS
BEST FROM: watches-dealer & Friends January 3, 2014
A Happy New Year to all!We begin the new year with lots of high-end watches from A. Lange & S?hne, F.P. Journe, Kari Voutilainen and Maitres du Temps. We also find out how the Rolex Submariner became the icon that it is today; revisit the case of the Swatch Group versus Tiffany & Co.; learn more about the history of Laco; and finally see how an IWC Ingenieur 5005 is repaired.1. F.P. Journe Sonnerie Souveraine Watch Hands-OnFran?ois-Paul Journe is one of the most talented watchmakers of our generation and the Sonnerie Souveraine is arguably his proudest creation - it is said that he wears it everywhere. The impressive thing about the Sonnerie Souveraine is that it was designed to be simple to operate and to be as mechanically durable and hardy as possible. For a closer look at this watch, which happens to be Journe's personal piece, hit the link below.Source: watches-dealer2. Glashutte Original Senator Panorama Date Watch
It certainly isn't anything revolutionary, but for 2013 one of the new Glashutte Original watches will be this attractive Senator Panorama Date. A simplified version of the Senator with a basic three-hand movement and big date indicator as part of the Glashutte Original GO 100-03 automatic movement. There is an 18k red gold version on a strap which is nice, but what I like a lot more is the steel version with the bracelet. That straight-forward German styling with the large blued-hands make for a fantastic dress watch. Size is 40mm wide which should satisfy the formal/classic watch segment. While the movement does have a gold automatic rotor, I am hoping that the steel version is priced in the $7,000 range that is both reasonable for the brand and should attract enough attention from newcomers to Glashutte Original. Having said that, a more likely price is double that. More on the Senator Panorama Date after this April. glashuette-originalwatches-dealer #gallery-2 {
Going to Kuwait for a year and need a new Omega GMT
Guys,I am going to Kuwait for a year and would like to purchase an Omega GMT. I need suggestions. Also it will need to be something that looks good on a NATO band as I will be installing it on one. Also it need to be waterproof to at least 100 meters. I love Omega's but just do not know them well.Any suggestions greatly appreciated.I have my Speedy, but don't need a Tachymetre as much as the GMT while there.
Strap change questions....
Hello all here at TRF! While browsing the forums this weekend I paid particular attention to straps that are on the watches. It was so exciting to see how a different strap can give an entirely new look to a watch. So, this got me thinking about a few strap-related questions I would like to pose to all of you:1). Do you change your straps yourself or take it somewhere to have it done? I have the tool to make the change myself, but am so worried that I will inadvertently cause damage due to my lack of experience and skill. But at the same time I feel a little odd taking it to a shop to have it done knowing that I didn't purchase the watch there.2). I notice in some of the photos the strap doesn't seem to be the right size (i.e. Too narrow for the lug width of the watch). Are there any potential issues with this other than cosmetic? 3). How often do you change your straps? It seems like it would be easy to become a little OCD with this and develop a habit of constantly changing t
