Vintage Breguet Timepieces On Display at New York’s Frick Collection (Video)
New York City’s Frick Collection, the art museum founded by Henry Clay Frick, is hosting an exhibition of historic timepieces, sponsored by luxury watch brand Montres Breguet and featuring several clocks and pocketwatches created by its namesake, legendary horologist Abraham-Louis Breguet and his son Antoine-Louis Breguet. The exhibit, titled “Precision and Splendor: Clocks and Watches at the Frick Collection” opened on January 23 in the museum’s Portico Gallery. Curated by Charlotte Vignon, associate curator of decorative arts at the Frick Collection, it features 11 clocks and 14 watches from the bequest of noted timepiece collector Winthrop Kellogg Edey, as well as five clocks lent by another collector, Horace Brock Wood. (The latter five have never before been seen in New York City.) In its press release, the Frick describes the exhibition as “explor[ing] the discoveries and innovations made in the field of horology from the early sixteenth to the ninete
Swatch Sistem51 $150 Mechanical Watch To Make Its Debut In The US Soon
The Swatch Sistem51 was announced at Baselworld 2013, and as a true?revolutionary concept should,?it moved?just about any and?all watch enthusiasts on this planet. It amazed with its?futuristic, fully mechanical movement that contains only 51 parts and is fully assembled by robots from start to finish. By contrast, it upset us with its extremely limited availability mainly restricted to Switzerland. With early July, that is bound to change, however, as the Swatch Sistem51?hits the US market, first in two pop-up stores in New York and San Francisco. We see?just about all truly innovative?watches debut cursed with two key issues: their often stupendous price?premium and an?overly limited availability. With the Swatch Sistem51 and its more than competitive?150 Swiss franc price point, the former has always been?out of the equation, while the problem linked to its availability has remained. It has been more than?a year now that?Swatch announced the watch at Baselworld 2013, and yet it took?

Grey market seamaster
So about a week ago i purchased a brand new omega seamaster diver 300m co-axial chronograph 44mm from one of 'those' websites for about 2 grand cheaper than retail at my AD. This was my third purchase from this particular site and i couldn't have been happier with the first two, an omega seamaster aqua terra and a breitling superocean II. Brought them to my AD and everything checked out and they also keep great time. I received my latest, the diver 300m, four days ago and everything appeared good so i brought it to my AD to have a couple links taken out. He didn't notice anything unusual. I may be paranoid but it seems to me like the red second hand for the chronograph is a bit herky jerky. Not a good sweep at all it looks like it hops hard when it gets to the 3/4 second mark. Not sure if this is normal? Are the chronograph second hands not supposed to sweep as smooth as normal second hands? Also, the wind seems a bit difficult and noisy on this watch to me. Anyone else here have one a
Seamaster 300 Basel 2014
Had a chance to try this on at the Galleria in Houston. They are rotating the country and was fortunate to catch them when they hit H-town for two days. This watch is incredibly beautiful and amazingly well balanced. Omega also managed to keep the thickness down, about a 1/4 less thickness than my old PO 8500 from what I can feel on my wrist dyno. I love the pcls and the artificial patina. The clean no date dial is so classy and it's vintage appeal shines through. The size feels just right, about the same as a SubC but a just bit thicker with more presence and solid weighty feel. The movement winds silky smooth and the bezel operation was solid with smooth but pronounced clicks. My favourite was the Sedna gold model obviously but to rich for my budget, secondly the tt was stunning but the third place winner and the one I'll likely buy is the ss version. Here are a few pics of the ss and sedna gold models. Released dates could not be confirmed but around Xmas seems to be the best bet. Why
