Introducing: The Montblanc TimeWalker ExoTourbillon Minute Chronograph
In addition to the Montblanc Heritage Chronométrie Collection Twincounter Date and the Chronométrie Collection Annual Calendar Chronograph we talked about earlier this week, Montblanc has pre-released another exceptional watch for SIHH 2016 – the TimeWalker ExoTourbillon Minute Chronograph Limited Edition 100. 1 OF 3 You may be familiar with the ExoTourbillon from the Villeret or Heritage collections that have been released in previous years. The ExoTourbillon, by definition, is a tourbillon without the cage that is fitted into the escapement and is instead placed on a rotating platform under the balance (see more here for Jack's extensive review and description of the Villeret ExoTourbillon Rattrapante). However, this year's release is much different from previous ExoTourbillons released in the past as this is the first ExoTourbillon in the TimeWalker collection. This is essentially a limited edition version of the 2015 SIHH Heritage Chronom&e
Speedy with an identity crisis
G'day folks,Got this little pearler a few months ago from our very own Fr John. Anyhow, I'm treating it a bit more like a PAM than a Speedmaster - hence the identity crisis. This watch has more shoes than I have (granted, this is not difficult)! I've narrowed it down to these two:1. A Hirsch Leonardo in black shark. Wears incredibly comfy, very durable with water resistant properties.2. A Stone creek gator. Brown with a great texture. Custom made and fits the Omega clasp. Very classy.I have attached some pics to aid your thinking.A delightful wrist shot to finish this off:ThanksGreg
5711 rarity?
Hey all,When I was searching for my 5711 blue dial, I couldn't find one in a few countries across Europe nor when I returned to Canada. I've been tracking the online market and some of the popular greys/trusteds have had stock for quite some time. I've seen one trusted seller with 2 blue dial 5711s on hand and they aren't moving fast. I would assume this one would fly off the shelf, any idea why they would be sitting on inventory with this perceived rare watch when there are so many waitlist ADs?Thanks!
Panerai steel alloy
Hey guys,I was wondering about the steel alloy that Panerai uses for their cases. I found that it is easier to scratch and different to polish than 316l from brands like Omega and Breitling, I have to adjust the polishing machine RPM in order to get the right finish.904l (Rolex) gives me the best results though.
Rolex future potential changes...
Hypothesis 1: If the market for mechanical watches became thin enough, Rolex could possibly choose to only produce watches in precious metals. If Rolex were to find itself in a situation in which sales had significantly dwindled on a majority of stainless steel watches due to disinterest by millennials, Rolex could choose to focus on a core group of very wealthy individuals and only provide very expensive precious metal models. $38,000 for a gold Sub? Nope. More like $100,000 or more. Extreme exclusivity could be cultivated if necessary. Not sure how well that would work out, but it is an option if market conditions get incredibly harsh in the next couple of decades.Hypothesis 2: Due to current worldwide market conditions for mechanical watches and millennials, Rolex may have already implemented a strategy to make very limited runs of various models with mild changes. These models will only last a few years at most before being changed again. This could have the effect of bri
