eBay Germany: So Many More Watches Not Available In The USA
You'll probably notice at some point or another that many of your watch searches on eBay come up with little results. You'll hear about a great small watch maker based out of Germany or Switzerland, go to eBay or the forums to see what you can find, and nothing! Are people not selling these watches? Are they so rare? No, the simple answer is that very few make it to the US.In fact, even while this statistic is rising, the US only consumes about 15% of the wrist watch market. Newly invigorated marketing efforts are attempting to remedy this, but the bottom line is that the US is often overlooked when it comes to distribution of many watches. Europe, the Middle East, and Asia enjoy most of where the watches are going. Especially when it comes to the "boutique" makers. This seems a strange fact, but when it comes down to it, watch makers feels that the US consumers just don't appreciate watches like some other countries do. Take the fact that most of the watches sold in the US are inexpens
Forged Carbon 15706AU vs Ceramic Diver 15707CE
I found a very good price on a mint FC Diver 15706AU with 1 year extended warranty. My first preference was the ceramic 15707CE, but this FC is $6K less than the few ceramics I have been able to hunt down worldwide. My wrists don't handle the 44's and of all the 42's this is the lightest and sportiest I could find for use at gym, beach, activities etc. I hear the debate on FC and some of the issues with it, and honestly that is my only hesitation vs ceramic. Colors are fine on both. Yellow strap will be a definite accessory.I went through the whole lineup of AP 42's and these two are the finalists. Can any FC diver owners help put my mind at rest with the FC case?Or should I just wait and keep looking for a ceramic (and pay more).I am not holding my breathe that Basel 2018 will bring back the CE or FC diver... Though it would be niceCarbon-Diver.jpg
Two Generations of Seamasters
The holidays is all about family, so I decided to take some pictures of my dad's Seamaster with my Seamaster. But the funny thing is that mine is older than his. Mine: Dad's:Gotta love that electric blue dial!Happy Holidays.
Illumination
I inherited a Submariner Date made in 1993-1994. I haven't found the original box, but I have found two return boxes from the Rolex Repair Division. The last repair was dated 2007 (what the repairs were I don't know). Question: the watch (dots) have no illumination at all. I can shine a flashlight on it with no avail. Is this normal?
Got the Stainless Steel with Black Dial
They said there was a 2 year wait list on that watch.Went in there and told the Rolex clerk that we are going walk out with either 3 watches or 0. And next thing you know, they walked out with the stainless steel.
