Showing at WatchTime New York 2015: Nomos Metro 38 Datum
We’re a little over a week away from the start of America’s Luxury Watch Show, WatchTime New York, at Manhattan’s Gotham Hall on October 23-24 (Click here for event details and to purchase tickets). Among the more than 20 luxury watch brands you’ll see there is Germany's Nomos Glashtte, which will be showcasing its new Metro 38 Datum models. The Nomos Metro 38 Datum and Metro 38 Datum urban gray are the latest additions to the brand’s Metro collection, which has won awards for its minimalist, Bauhaus-influenced designs. In contrast to their predecessors, the new watches’ dials do not have power-reserve displays making for an even cleaner dial but do feature extra-large date indicators at 6 o’clock along with the small seconds subdial. The stainless steel cases of the new models are also slightly larger, at 38.5 mm in diameter. The Datum has blue dot hour indices at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock and a red lacquered seconds hand, contrasting with
Tournaire Expression Paris Watch
Jewelry and watch designer Philippe Tournaire has created some really interesting things. For me, he will be most famous for being the guy who turns architecture into rings. Really. Image a ring with a gold building on it - yup. Tournaire's newest creation combines this concept with a watch, but in a way that is just sort of weird. In fact, as hard as it may have been someone finally make the beautiful city of Paris kinda unattractive. To be fair I do like his basic watch designs. Even they have optional "architecture" around the side of the case. This one however has a thick frame of little carved buildings around the edge. A "revolution" around Paris you might say. Landmark buildings abound, as well as the Eiffel Tower of course. According to BusinessMontres, Tournaire is considering making timepieces like this for other cities. This is starting to remind me of the movie Inception - which I still don't quite understand. That is the other place I recall being able to turn a city around
Interview with Jake B of Dagaz Watches
Jake Bourdeau, better known as Jake B on the watch forums, has become the biggest name in the international Seiko watch modding community. After the company founder and Jake's mentor Noah Fuller (the creator of the Tsunami watch) died in 2011, Jake has made it his mission to build on Noah's legacy.Right now his company Dagaz Watch Ltd. based in Tsuen Wan, New Territories, Hong Kong is in the middle of preparing the release of the Typhoon, a modern take on one of the most iconic dive watches ever, the Seiko 6105-8110. Fans have been patiently waiting to get their hands on a custom or Classic version of the Typhoon since it was announced in fall of 2012. The watch ($650 on bracelet and $570 on rubber) uses a Seiko Instruments NE15 movement, a non-branded 6R15 with hand-winding and hacking capabilities.Besides selling thousands of mod parts a month, Jake has built a family business (his wife and brother-in-law are his staff) that is now poised to become one of the most respected micro-bra
21mm options
having just acquired a 43.5mm PO, i've found myself in quite a spot.i've got a tonne of 20mm straps, natos, and generic bracelets, and i've got a few 22mm natos tooBUT, i've kinda grown out of nylon in recent days and generally prefer the bracelet or rubber.that said, i am having a helluva time finding the kind of 21mm rubber i'm looking for. ideally, i'd like something like what Rubber B or Everest Straps offers with the curved ends that fit the case.i've looked into genuine omega rubber straps with deployment and they are quite expensive. does anyone know of any strap makers that do a rubber strap kinda like what rubber b and everest do?Cheers,Matte
