Angular Momentum Phenakistoscope Watches - Memento Mori & Little Devil
This Halloween I'd like to present you with two creepy watches from Angular Momentum. Creepy yes, but in a more subtle "Swiss way." The one that creeps me out most is the "Little Devil" watch - with images of a maniacal looking infant laughing over hell fire. But let's get back to the "phenakistoscope" part of the name. The hell is that you ask? Well this was part of early animation. You'd take some type of cylinder or ring, and place images on it that if seen in a quickly moving sequence, would appear to the eye to move. Please be aware that unless this watch is operating terribly wrong, the disc with the sequential images will not move fast enough for you to see the animation. Rather, it is a wrist watch style homage of these early forms of animated entertainment. The disk moves around the dial once each 12 hours - slowest animation ever! The watches are each 40mm wide in steel "time gallery" style Angular Momentum cases. In addition to Little Devil, there is the Memento Mori watch -
storage box recommendations please
I'm looking for recommendations for a storage box to hold atleast 8 watches. Most are manual wind on deployants so the lay flat boxes won't work. The box will also need to fit in a safe so it doesn't need to be extremely fancy but I do prefer wood. Thanks in advance!
Sky Dweller Witching Hour is Near!!!
For those with Sky Dwellers the day of dread is upon us. At midnight tomorrow your watches will no longer show the correct date and will need adjustment. I'm curious as to what will show on the date when the date flips; will it simply show 29? At any rate, not desiring to play with my watch in advance, I'll wait until tomorrow midnight to find out. I must admit to adjusting the time on mine today and placing the bezel in position 1 to verify that it is the position for changing the date and that it doesn't stop the second had. Have fun with your once a year experience!!!!
