Introducing: The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Classic 85th Anniversary Edition
Pre-SIHH 2016 announcements continue to roll into HODINKEE and this one is from fan (and HODINKEE) favorite, Jaeger-LeCoultre. The Reverso is turning 85 this year, and to celebrate, Jaeger-LeCoultre will show new models in both the Classic, and Tribute collections. 1 OF 17 Vintage Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, 1933. If there were a special horological Academy Award for the most inexhaustibly fertile source of design inspiration in a wristwatch of all time it might well go to the Reverso. In varying incarnations, it has been a vehicle for everything from high complications to dual time zone watches (for which application it is a natural) to some of the most beautifully decorated or engraved watches ever made. ROO which one???
I am stuck and am so unsettled, just can't decide between the ceramic, forged carbon or rose gold. Knowing most are happy with their purchase, does anyone wish they went a different direction? Has any one found their material to be less then durable over time?Like I said I am stuck any opinions appreciated.
PAM90 Power Reserve
I have a friend who just purchased a PAM90 Power Reserve (no box or papers). I opened the case back for him to find that it had the 7750-p3 OP III Movement. I am not familiar with Panerai, he said it was a pam90. I thought the PAM90 had the Caliber IX but this has the Panerai OPIII w. power reserve. It's a F series. Is this possible? I have attached the picture of the movement from the watch he purchased. Here is a picture of the dial.
Rolex 6538 vs. Tudor Fifty-Eight
I want one. And since the one on the left is out of reach, I'll settle for the Tudor - and the Fifty-Eight look just perfect. Image composed in PowerPoint by using an image from Hodinkee and Tudors homepage
INCOMING DaytonaC Black
Got the itch this week and had to pull the trigger. The black is so stunning in person and I really prefer it to the white.I feel now with a pure black dial my collection is really rounded out.Love this hobby, but god damn is it expensive..
