SIHH 2016 Preview: Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda Mtrographe Abyss Blue
Parmigiani Fleurier recently released a preview of one of its four new Tonda Mtro?timepieces, which the brand will officially launch in Geneva this January, at the 2016 Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH).The launch of the new collection will showcase the work of a talented photographer that the Parmigiani manufacture worked with and will feature four cities around the globe, each representing a different Tonda Mtro model. Chicago is the first city chosen, and will represent the new Parmigiani Tonda Mtrographe Abyss Blue (shown). Three more yet-to-be-announced models will follow. The Parmigiani Tonda Mtrographe Abyss Blue features a distinctive, blue-colored dial, which requires the careful skill of the brand's master dial maker to create. To create this special shade of blue is no easy task. First, the dial maker dips the dial in a special electroplating bath, which has a specific current running through it, at a perfectly controlled temperature. Then, with a steady ha
Watch What-If: Omega Speedmaster
"Watch What-If" is a special column on aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer that asks the playful question "what if an iconic watch you know and love was offered in a different style?" The idea embraces a good timepiece's core design and has fun by offering new colors and material concepts to stimulate your senses. These ideas may be provocative, artistic, or just plain silly. This is about fun, Photoshop, and the celebration of wrist watch design and experimentation. The original design we work off will always be at the bottom of the article. The designs are brought to life by Beau Hudspeth who does the artwork and conception after he and I choose the models and styles to focus on. These special design experiments are extremely time consuming and labor intensive but we hope you enjoy the results. Ideas and comments are more than welcome. Enough response may even lead to a round two of design of the same watch - so please comment below. You are also encouraged to suggest watches that make it into
Omega Seamaster 300 rubber strap help.
Hi all, I've just bought a rubber Everest band for my GMT the quality is amazing but unfortunately they only do Rolex. Does anyone know where I can source a similar quality rubber strap for the Seamaster?
First Patek Philippe
Hello All, I am considering my first Patek Philippe after loving watches since the late 90s. I have done the Rolex thing, the Omega thing and finally the Breguet thing. I am wanting a Patek to see me through the next 20 years. I have sold off most of my collection to get the 1 watch which keeps me happy - the exit watch. I am a huge fan of the following models and I am keen to here the opinion of the pros here. The models I really love are the Patek 5107, 5127, 5146, 5035 and the new 5227. I think money will make me a used Patek buyer. I remember the first Patek I ever saw in the late 90s.... a magical 5035 in Yellow Gold. That was a stunner! I then remember a friend getting a 5107 in the spring of 2003. What a watch. I have seen a fantastic YouTube video on the 5146 by Michael D' Silva. What a classy watch. What would you recommend for me - needs to be a daily wearer. Thank you so much.
Sky Dweller dial question????
I saw a solid white gold Sky Dweller on bracelet that had the new blue stainless steel and white gold dial which in my opinion looks great!!!! I asked if it was a redial and was informed that Rolex accepts special orders for this combination for the solid gold models. Has anyone ever tried to order a piece like this? Does anyone else have a new dial on a solid gold piece? I really like the new stainless dials better but would rather have the solid gold watch. BestsAlex
