When did you first start down the Patek road?
Hi folks,Although I've always had a fine appreciation for watches it's really been the last 5-6 years that I've been serious about collecting and learning about this crazy addiction. Actually I can tell you the exact date, 8/10/2011, the day I joined TRF Ive been all over the globe when it comes to brands and it's been a very fun journey discovering what I like and what I dislike. For all the various brands that I've owned I've always clung to Rolex as my core. But recently I've felt that I have acquired all that I need from Rolex and I've been really drawn to what Patek has to offer. I was lucky enough to acquire a 5711 white dial from my AD recently. I hate to say this but I just wasn't able to bond with it. I didn't even post an incoming because I knew it wasn't a keeper. Since then I've tried on a 5712 and a 5146 and I really loved everything about those watches. I'm pretty sure my next watch will be the 5712 or maybe the 5712r (or both) and I'd like to acquire the 5146r later on.

This (5712r) or That (5980r)?
With which piece would you round out this collection, removing price from the equation? The collection consists of the Platona and the SD4k. If I move forward with one of the below, I would flip my 5712/1a towards it. I've surprised myself; my tastes have changed over the past several years, and I now am drawn to a rose gold watch, something I didn't think would happen. Part of the appeal is the rose gold with brown leather strap, so a full-on rose (or yellow) gold watch (i.e. including bracelet) is not in the running. While I love the moonphase of the 5712/1a and the microrotor, and I have a chrono in the Platona, is the 5980r the clear winner? They definitely wear differently, so any feedback by owners is welcome! I truly find both amazing pieces, and sadly () both speak to me! Birthday Buy?
I'm turning 21 soon in approximately 10 days. Can not decide if I want to buy a YG day date or not. I love the watch and will definitely buy it on at a later date if not now. On a daily basis, i sport a Tag Heuer Aquaracer and a Rolex Submariner and occasionally my fathers AP Royal Oak 18k. All prices mentioned below are in CAD.I pretty much have 5 questions.- How much should I pay for a used daydate yg? My budget is under 15k for which i have seen many watches but should i buy one for less or should i buy one for 15k. - Should i pay more for box and papers or should i get one without? The guy i will be buying from is a trusted dealer and friend in Toronto. The price for the one with papers is 17500- The normal wrist size doesn't seem to fit me, so how much should i pay for an extra link? Inherently how much do they cost??-Bark or no bark? I seem to like to bark as well as the non bark, without any information on bark i would have to buy the non bark. Is there anything special about ba
