Omega service repair experience
Just wanted to share some of my experience. My wife has a fairly new Aqua Terra with the new 8520 movement. Its very rarely worn. The winding mechanism seemed to fail whereby manual winding would catch on the rotor making it difficult to wind. I guess it shouldn't.Anyway, we gave it to the Omega boutique here in Hong Kong. It went through a local check with the watch master in Hong Kong, and then later it went to headquarters for a full repair. The whole time we did not receive a telephone call to update us of the status until it was ready for pickup. It took a full two months. When we picked up the watch, the sales gave very little input as to what was wrong or what was done to the watch. There was a little report, which I asked to keep but was not allowed to. It showed that the gasket was replaced, but surprisingly much of the comments were written in Chinese - so I wonder if this was the master report from Switzerland. Being COSC certified, it kind of irks me a little knowing
just arrived! PAM0024
I'd been hunting for a new watch for a few months now and it was starting to get more and more complicated, I had my mind set, then I saw something else that appealed, and on it went! I walked up and down Collins St seeking out the right watch, at the right price.Rolex, no budge on price and wait for stock to arrive! I decided that was not good enough so I moved on, Omega, pretty much the same with the excuse that it lessens the name, well, it pays your wages too if I buy one...but the Seamaster GMT felt cheap and certainly not worthy of the $9400 price tag.Today, I thought bugger this, I need to get the watch and be done with it..I waltzed in to The Hour Glass and the lovely young NZ girl served me straight away. She asked what I was looking for and I told her straight out...she asked which model I was interested in and I told her this is the one! PAM0024, and she pulled it out and let me play around with it.I played, she watched, I talked to her about watches and asked her why she doe
PAM 115 vs 219--A Few Questions
Good afternoon TRF, I posted in the Panerai section fairly recently as I decided I'm ready to buy one and would like a left-handed (Destro) model. While someone here recommended the PAM 123 which I looked up and instantly loved, I decided the $10k+ price tag is more than I'd like to spend, especially considering this will be my first. I have narrowed my search to a 219 and a 115. Both are around the same price (both used). I am partial to the 115 because of the second hand but have a few questions/reservations. Does anyone have any insight as to which model holds its value better? I know many people here say don't worry about the value just buy what you like but this is important to me so I hope y'all understand . Also, the 115 does not come with any accessories (box/straps etc). While there are mixed feelings on this when it comes to Rolex, I am wondering what the consensus is when it comes to Panerai? I get the sense it affects value more than Rolex but I'm really not sure. Unfortun
Cleaning my first Rolex?
Hi everyone! Just joined this forum and hope to be an exciting part of it. Bought my first Rolex last week. 41mm DJ Wimbledon Dial Jubilee 18k/Steel.I have been waiting for this for the longest time. Question is on cleaning. I know its gonna get scratched and that some people wear them as battle wounds. Is there anything wrong with cleaning my watch daily or multiple times a day? Currently I'm using a cloth used for eyeglasses, phone screen, laptop screen. And wiping it down dry, would it hurt if I applied a cleaning solution? I do this several times a day to remove fingerprints. Is this a good method?
