Montblanc Teams Up With the Breeders’ Cup
Montblanc has become the exclusive promotional partner in the timing category for the 26th Breeders' Cup World Championships. The company will present a Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec timepiece to the winning owner of the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic and Breeders' Cup Classic in the Winners Circle. Considered thoroughbred racing's most prestigious global event, this year's Breeders' Cup will be held on Friday, November 6, and Saturday, November 7, at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. Almost two hundred years ago, inventor Nicolas Rieussec attempted to develop a timing system that recorded the exact times run by individual horses, constructing a wooden case with a clock movement that left ink on two rotating dials to measure the time. Rieussec used his machine at a horse racing event held in 1821, recording the finishing time of each horse–with an accuracy of a quarter of a second. Breitling Top Time
Does anyone here own a Breitling, three-register Top Time? I have one I purchased over twenty years ago and see very little about this watch on any of the forums. When I purchased mine, it was an NOS, new old stock, Breitling and was manufactured back in the 1970's. I purchased it from a watch shop in Miami that had several vintage NOS Breitlings in their display case. At the time, it seemed like a great purchase. If you own one of these vintage Breitlings, how about posting a photo here.Thanks.
In The Wild: Brand New 5712
Apologize for no photos, but I did not bring my camera. So we are at a Newcomers Club of La Jolla event, Western themed party. And we are seated randomly. So I noticed the guy next to me was rocking a 5712 (at first I thought it was a 5711). Well, I asked him about his Nautilus and he had just bought in a few days ago from our local PP dealer, and we began a 2 hour watch discussion, much to the consternation of both of our wives and the others at the table. Even though both our wives wore Rolexes, they are not really into watches. He showed me photos on his phone of his 15 watch collection, which included several Pateks, a Rolex DSSD, a GP, a minute repeater, an IWC, and so on. He specializes in complications. He uses a microscope to examine the finishing on his watch and has taken some stunning shots of the movements. He struck me as a loner and does not participate in forums.
Datejust 41 vs Datejust 36
Recently I've been thinking about getting Datejust 36. There is a talk that DJ 41 is actually not 41 but somewhere near 39mm. So, does anyone has both watches to compare? I would be interested in 36mm but if DJ 41 is 39, I might try that one. Also, I'm expecting DJ 36 to get the new movement next year as there has been no upgrade from 2005(I think). Currently DJ 41 is best bet but if DJ36 is getting 3235 movement, I will go with DJ36. The color I'm interested in DJ36!!
