Hublot to Follow Lego Guy and Make Modern Day Antikythera
The Antikythera Mechanism is the oldest known scientific computer, dating back to 100 BC.? Designed by the Greeks, all knowledge of the device was lost for 2000 years until it was rediscovered in 1901 on a shipwreck off the Greek Island of Antikythera.? Over a century later, we find out that the Mechanism is really one of the first mechanical devices designed to predict celestial events and eclipses.? In other words, it's a clock. ?If you think you've read this before somewhere else, you have.? We wrote those exact words when a dude replicated the Antikythera mechanism out of LEGO.? Now, Hublot is apparently trying to do the same (though we suspect not out of LEGO, unfortunately).? The Hublot Antikythera will be only 30mm thick (which yes, is super thick for a watch) but when compared to the original Antikythera at 20cm, it looks to be a rather impressive achievement.?As more info trickles out, we'll be sure to update you.(via Perpetuelle)
Reasonably priced watch service
Hi guys. I am looking for someone that will service a breitling navitimer I'm looking to purchase. The watch appears to be in very good condition, though the current owner says it should be serviced. Anyone know of a good watch smith that can overhaul the movement at a reasonable price, and roughly what that price should be? Thanks!!
Possible 5167 winding issues?
So, I've had my 5167 for just over a month now and i'm absolutely loving it! I just let the power reserve run out and thats when i noticed manual winding seems a bit odd. When i unscrew the crown i seem to have to spin the crown a couple times in the 12 o'clock potion before it catches and starts to wind. Normally i wind by spinning the crown in a 12 to 6 o'clock motion, but in this case as soon as you turn the crown in the 6 o'clock position the crown feels like it's free floating and you can spin it 3-7 times in the 12 o'clock position before you feel it stop at the winding gears. Hopefully i wrote this in a way you guys can understand. Is this normal with the 324 movement? or has anyone heard of this before? Thanks
I dont get all the hype with the hulk
Hello all.i really don't get all the hype surrounding the Hulk.Every day there seems to be a new thread on this, where can i get onewill it be discontinued Hong Kong grey dealers have bought them all and so on.Its a nice watch, but its been out a while now and no one seemed interested in it until 6 months ago.Seems to me that the possibility of making money on it has become more important or more relevant than actually buying it because you liked it and wanted to wear it.I bought mine early this year, and i got lucky, so it seems, but not because i thought it would make money, but because i liked it and wear it and scratch it.But that's how i feel with any and all watches i have and have had.Cheers
