Panerai Luminor 8 Days Set Pays Tribute to Early Stallone Models
Twenty years ago, Hollywood action hero Sylvester Stallone commissioned a pair of watches from then-obscure watch brand Officine Panerai, and neither the brand, nor the watch world at large, has been the same since. Panerai marks this milestone at SIHH 2016 with a special, limited-edition set of two new watches inspired by the ones made for Sly in 1996.The Panerai Luminor 8 Days Set contains a pair of Panerai Luminor watches that bear the distinctive DNA of their forebears released one year before the brand was acquired by the Richemont Group (then known as the Vend?me Group) in 1997 and which quickly became collectors’ items yet also feature attractive modern twists. One of the watches, the Panerai Luminor Black Seal Left-Handed 8 Days (below), is the first iteration of that timepiece with the winding crown and patented, lever crown-protection device it on the left side of the case. Panerai, in fact, began making watches for left-handers in the 1940s for eminently practical r

Introducing: The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 39.5mm
This year at Baselworld Omega has decided to revamp their old classics. Take the Seamaster Planet Ocean 39.5 mm for example, although this watch is already in existence, it is now available in 39.5 mm and features a new co-axial movement, the caliber 8801/8800 (as opposed to the caliber 8615). 1 OF 2 This new movement is certified by METAS and is self-winding with a power reserve of 55 hours. The new 39.5 mm case, as opposed to the 37.5 mm or 42 mm case currently in the collection, is a welcome addition to those looking for something in between the two sizes. 2 OF 2 Additionally, the watch is now available in Sedna™ gold with brown ceramic bezel and shimmery brown dial or the two-tone version in Sedna™ gold and stainless steel. Both come with a rubber or leather strap. More here.Additional information and pricing to follow. Be sure to check us out on HODINKEE Live!

Double Incoming - one outgoing.
Hi all,Been a while since I've posted about a new watch purchase but this has been a busy week so I thought I'd post about 2 new incoming watches.I was at Fourtane in Carmel recently trying on a few watches. I liked a lot of the watches I tried on but LOVED the TT Submariner 116613. I've never owned a TT watch and this one really spoke to me. The bezel and dial were just beautiful. I immediately put the wheels in motion and within a week I had traded my Blue Yachtmaster and some cash for a LNIB Sub from DavidSW.I've also been looking around for the new Seadweller 43 and found one this week for a decent price so pulled the trigger - sight unseen. Never even tried one on. So glad I did. This watch is awesome and will now be my daily. I already own a ND sub but, sadly, I think it must go. I don't think I'll need 2 dive watches.Anyway, here's a few pictures of my 2 new watches: Thanks for lookin!!!
