Dodane 1857 Type 23 Black PVD Watch
When it comes to aviation watches, we're generally limited to watches that follow a particular style (say, a flieger reference), or perhaps something that's based on a model from a brand's archives. It's a much less common thing for us to have available a civilian variant of a model that's available to an active military air force - but that's precisely what we've got with this new model from Dodane 1857.Interestingly, this new PVD version of their popular Type 23 model had its development funded by by the sale of specific watches (750 in total) to members of France's Air Force (makes for a rather interesting and specific military tie-in, for sure). Given those ties, it's not a surprise that Dodane is using a movement designed to conform to military requirements for toughness and accuracy, the Calibre 2030.Of course, you don't just have to take Dodane's word for it. If you like, via a special order process, you can have the movement in your new watch certified by the Besan?on Observato
Introducing The Blancpain Ocean Commitment Bathyscaphe Chronograph Flyback, And A New Book Celebrati
Coming to you live from the south of France, where I was just shown a brand new limited edition Blancpain chronograph that has a lot going for it. Its official name is the Ocean Commitment Bathyscaphe Flyback Chronograph, but what it is to us collectors is a limited edition take on the new Bathyscaphe chrono shown at Basel this year with an awesome new high-beat, in-house chronograph. There is a lot to like here, and on top of this new watch, Blancpain also announced a massive, 475-page chronicle of the entire history of the Fifty Fathoms, the very first modern dive watch. 2 OF 4 First, the watch. This limited run of 250 watches features a gorgeous blue dial, with blue ceramic bezel. But what is most interesting (IMHO) is that while the case looks like either brushed steel or titanium, it is neither. It is, in fact, a matte grey ceramic. It's light and tough, but with the look of traditional materials. This new piece looks fantastic, and I think it's easily my fav

20 year old submariner stops ticking
hi folks,I have a 1998 submariner, 16610. It served me well for the past 2 decades.I bought it brand new from A/D.This morning I noticed it had stopped ticking since I had not worn it in a week.I wound it up and got nothing. The 2nds hand will not move forward. If you look closely at the 2nds hands, it seems to be struggling to move forward but can not.The watch was not abused or dropped or subjected to shock. Not now, not in the last 20years of ownership. It jut died, kind of like an old man. Also, the watch has never been serviced. So can someone tell me how severe this problem appears to be? What on the insides of the machinery might be causing this?thank you
