Jaeger-LeCoultre Offers Watchmaking Lessons On Your iPhone
Jaeger-LeCoultre has launched a new iPhone application that aims to share fine watchmaking with the general public. Rather than simply present their collection, the app invites you to look at iconic models from a whole new angle: the perspective of an amateur watchmaker. The application lets you explore the various stages in creating a watch, and a comprehensive horological dictionary compliments the six introductory lessons. The classes enable users to practice watchmaking techniques directly on their iPhone screen: assembling a chronograph mechanism, decorating and jeweling a movement, polishing, engraving and gem-setting a case. For the latter class, the aim is to gem-set a Reverso Neva, making no mistakes and in record time, by skilfully sliding the diamonds onto the watch case. The watch classes are displayed at a rate of one new class every two weeks. There is a contest with a drawing and a lucky learner who answered all of the competition questions will receive a guided tour of

Traveling with nice watches
I usually like to bring 1-2 nice watches with me on trips unless I'm going to a 3rd world type country. I'm leaving for Bordeaux France in a few weeks and I'm trying to decide which watches to bring. Now typically if we were visiting a large European city I'd def go with something more low-key... i.e. something in steel and no Rolexes and nothing gold. This trip we will be doing mainly wine tours and eating at nice restaurants in the French countryside... not even spending any time in Bordeaux city other than to land. Would my 44mm ROO rose gold be to flashy for French wine country? My other option would be a 42 mm IWC Chronograph Classic in rose gold for a more reserved look. I also plan on brining one of my 44 mm Panerai's for a casual watch. Or maybe just stick with one Panerai and call it a day? Wish I had a 41 mm Royal Oak chronograph in steel... that would be perfect for this trip.Do most of you go more low-key with timepieces when traveling or do you just bring whatever you want
AP Royal Oak 15400 Prices
Hey folks,So i'm looking to possibly pick up a 15400 in black and was wondering what are the best bargains out there? I've seen new ones sell on the forum for between 13-14k. Any idea if it's possible to beat these prices with a good dealer? What have folks on here bought this for? Thanks,JP
Dressing Down A 5196G?
Can it be done? I love the watch but I'm just not sure it fits into my life. I dress pretty informally most days. I once had a vintage YG Calatrava and I rarely wore it for this reason. I'm hoping that WG and the right strap might make this work. Any experiences? Pics with different straps would be great. Thanks!
