Independent watchmaking is often regarded as something that is out of the reach for most watch lovers, but for those willing to do more extensive research, there are some more interesting alternatives out there. One of them is?Habring2. For the past decade, the brand has been committed to bringing innovative independent watchmaking to a more affordable price level.?This year, Habring2 celebrates its 10th anniversary with the Felix, their first watch to contain an in-house designed movement. We visit them to find out more about what goes into a Habring2 watch and provide also an in-depth review?of?their new Felix watch.Speaking of independent watchmaking, this round-up also sees an interview with Vincent Perriard and Dominique Renaud of HYT watches, which specializes in hydromechanical timepieces?C watches?that use liquids to tell time. And we also speak to Laurent Piccioto, owner of the famous Chronopassion store in Paris, who is a great supporter of independent watchmaking. Finally, we
Artya Son Of A Gun Watches Use Real Bullets
Yvan Arpa's newest concept for his Artya brand is combining bullets and watches. The result will be a new series of strictly piece unique watches that somehow combine guns and timepieces. This one (called the Sun of a Gun) literally takes bullets and sticks them in the dial and the rotor. I am sort of surprised nothing like this has been done before. Maybe people are gun shy?According to Artya the first piece in the Time Shot (eventually called Son of a Gun) collection was commissioned by a collector. In a sense, the concept is a metaphor for what time is - a killer. There are a whole range of such "morbid" watches. A good example are those from Mr. Jones Watches that have hands which literally remind you that you will die. Nothing more uplifting that remembering that time is running out for you each time you check to see if your meeting is about to start. I suppose that type of messaging is good for the perpetually unmotivated who need some extra help to get stuff done.Using the stand
The Limited Edition Bremont Codebreaker Now Available On MrPorter.com
In June 2013, UK watchmaker Bremont introduced the Codebreaker C a flyback chronograph with GMT function made in collaboration with the historic Bletchley Park Trust. We showed you the watch moments after launch, highlighting Bletchley Park's important role as the center of code breaking operations for the British Army during WWII. The Codebreaker incorporates a number of real historical artifacts into the design, including parts of the punchcards used for code breaking. Though the watch was made in very limited numbers, online retailer MrPorter has secured a number of Codebreakers to offer online starting today.? 2 OF 4 Only 240 steel and 50 18k rose gold Codebreakers will be produced. To mark each piece, Bremont secured five extremely rare punch cards from the Bletchley Park code breaking machine. Segments of the punchcards are used on the side of the Codebreaker's case, denoting each piece's unique serial number. Additionally, the crown is inlaid with wood from the flo

Nautilus blue dials
Hi all, as a few already know I have a 5712-1A, and honestly I have never seen in real any other blue dial Nautilus, well apart from the 2 tome 5980, but it has a very special kind of blue, which to my knowledge no other Nautilus has, except for maybe the 5711P, but I still think they are different since I don't see any high end watch maker putting a platinum blue on a SS watch, and when I look at the Patek website, on pics the 5712 blue has nothing to do with the other blue Nautilus dials, so was wondering, is it just the pics which give this impression and is the 5712 blue the same as the 5711, 5980 blues of the SS models or is it really different? For those who haven't noticed I invite you to look on the Patek site and the difference is clear, at least on pics. Thanks in advance for your insights and helping develop my Patek culture, yes I know I am just at the beginning of the road there is still a long journey ahead but as much as I know about Patek since I am a child, I never had
