Watches NEWS
Hands-on with the Mido Baroncelli Heritage
For years, Swatch Group focused Mido's efforts primarily on Latin America and Asia, two regions where the brand has done exceptionally well. Unfortunately, the brand doesn’t share the same awareness in the States, which I've always found strange given the size of Tissot's (also a Swatch Group brand) American presence. That’s about to change. We learned this year that Swatch Group is now making a concentrated effort to push the brand in America. For lovers of well-priced, solidly-made wristwatches, this is exciting news.Last month we introduced the Baroncelli Heritage, a vintage-inspired extension of Mido's mainstay Baroncelli range. Handsome, classically styled with enough of a twist, and surprisingly tempered in size, the Baroncelli Heritage looked like an obvious win for the brand. And though Mido's marketing team focused primarily on the thinness of the watch (an impressive 6.95mm), I was more taken with its aesthetics. For Baselworld, Mido released an additional two var
A Week On The Wrist: The Panerai PAM 560 Luminor Base 8 Days Acciaio With The In-House 8 Day Caliber P.5000
This is the most stripped-down watch in Panerai’s current collection and it also represents the entry level price into the world of Panerai in-house movements. It’s actually a relatively new movement – the caliber P.5000 was introduced only two years ago and back in 2013, HODINKEE founder Ben Clymer took a look at the watch in which it was introduced: the PAM 510, which has a seconds sub-dial at the 9:00 position. In case you’re not up on Panerai history, the use of an 8 day movement with small seconds is an homage to that history; Panerai used 8-day movements by Angelus in some of its earliest watches (along with Rolex movements based on Cortebert ebauches). 1 OF 7 The PAM 560 is newer than the movement – we saw it for the first time at the 2014 edition of the SIHH, and the feeling we have is that it’s part of a general move across the board to make all Panerai watches powered by in-house movements. We haven’t spent a tre
What would you do? Panerai Service
Hey guys,I just got my Pam 111 back from service in Toronto. At first I thought that everything was perfect until I noticed that they brushed the lever pin on the crown guard, which is supposed to have a polished finish. I know that it is a very small detail and I also I know that if I bring it back to them, they will likely have to send it to the service centre again just to polish it. My question is, would this bother any of you? Is it worth sending it back for a while just to have it done properly? I attached a before and after picture for reference. The 1st picture is the after, and the second is the before service (and strap change of course).I also attached links to the photos if they don't work here.i1340.photobucket/albums/...psh9sqkjpj.jpgi1340.photobucket/albums/...ps4pbnxvgs.jpgThanks.
Lady Rolex under 3k
Any suggestion on a Lady model, second hand, at around 3,000 $ price. I am not planning to buy anything now, but I'd like to study the various reference that may be available at this price range.
On a rainy Sunday afternoon!
Just a little fun. I know either brave or stupid to play around with macro photos! So if anyone sees any faults, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF please. Thanks
