On Sale Now: WatchTime November-December 2015 Issue
The November-December 2015 issue of WatchTime is on newsstands now (and also in the WatchTime online shop), featuring our test of the revamped Lange 1 from A. Lange & S?hne, an in-depth report on Vacheron Constantin’s ber-complicated Ref. 57260, and more. Scroll down for highlights from the issue? For the cover story, The Same, Only Different, Jens Koch tests the new A. Lange & S?hne Lange 1, which looks almost exactly like the old one except for one big difference: an all-new in-house movement. Did the Saxon brand make a good move updating this classic? Original photos are by Nik Sch?lzel. (You may also download this article from the WatchTime online store.)? Watch historian Gisbert L. Brunner provides the perfect companion piece to the Lange 1 test feature, “A. Lange & S?hne Milestones,” a comprehensive look at the 17 most important and historic A. BEST FROM: watches-dealer & Friends 9 May, 2014
In the month of May, we pay a visit to Chopard's workshops and also check out their new L.U.C Tourbillon Qualite Fleurier Watch, which uses Fairmined gold. Speaking of new watches, we also check out Patek Philippe's awesome new Reference 5990/1A Nautilus watch; Seiko's fast-beating Hi-Beat 36,000 GMT watch; and the most affordable Legacy Machine from MB&F yet. That's not all, we also examine the history of dive watch; analyze the second-hand watch mark; and attempt to engrave the caseback of Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso.1. The History Of Dive WatchesThe dive watch as we know it is one of the most popular types of watches today. Rolex's Submariner, Blancpain's Fifty Fathoms, Panerai's Radiomir and Seiko's Monster are all examples of popular watches that are also bona fide dive watches. However, the history of the dive watch is an interesting one. One that was born out of necessityCbecause early watches were highly susceptible to humidity and dustCand then later led to greater things. In
fake speedmaster 3513.50
I recently purchased (as in last week) a Speedmaster 3513.50 from a grey market dealer. I took the watch to an AD and he commented that the color of the luminous material on the hands appeared dark. I got on ebay and looked at some of the auctions and found the same model watch where the hands appeared darker. After looking athe pictures of the auction I noticed that my watch has the EXACT same serial number as the one in the auction. I take it that these are both high end fakes?
Basel 2017 Preview and MORE!
Last night I attended a Basel Preview event at Kirk Jewelers (wonderful time and great staff! thank you!). There are live videos and pictures on my IG stories feed if you want to check it out.The night started with a Bang with double platinum wrist time with the 5070P and the 5170P. More on how these compare later. intro.jpgAs a general matter the watches looked great! Surrounded by watches and flowing champagne... hard to go wrong! My thoughts on some of the more popular references:1. the 5170P looks great. The gradient dial is sporty and the diamonds on the dial are quite subtle (you are right KARL).2. 5230G: the case is very nice in fact (a lot has been said about the stamped case) and the steps in the lugs look great! The watch is a bit big for me and the automatic movement in this case is not to my liking. The vintage vibe is strong and I am sure it will be a popular reference.3. 5168: Too BIG! For me at least. I think it would have been better in a 40mm case. But I think Patek i
16600 on strap...
I dusted off the SD and put it on the Everest leather strap with their endlinks. Looks pretty good...for a change from the oyster...Right lug is not scratched; just a reflection...
