Ikepod Hourglass For Only Watch 2011 Auction
For the 2011 Only Watch Auction, Ikepod will offer this one-of-a-kind red version of the Ikepod Hourglass. Looks like it has black microballs and is a stunning piece. Only one will be made and it will be auctioned off in September.
An Elephant for a 5712......
I recently got the Elephant and find myself wearing it less than I thought. The 5712/1A has always been on my list to get, but figured down the road....My friend throws a dinner party and has his 5712 on so he lets me try it on. Felt comfortable....But, I was really surprised at how light it felt on the wrist - almost too light as in feeling 'cheap'. God forbid, it is not, as I know the 5712 is nearly twice the cost of an Elephant but does anyone feel the 5712 feels too light? It makes a SS Daytona feel substantial in weight. So now I have second thoughts on later acquiring the 5712/1A. Perhaps the 5712G for not much more?? Does the white gold feel heavier? Sent from my Zeitwerk
Thick watches
Practically all the 8500/9300 Co-Ax watches appear to suffer from the common complaint of being too thick for many people. (myself included) Don't they all come with a display caseback, and isn't this a significant contributor to the thickness? I've never had a watch with a display back, and frankly don't care much what the insides look like as long as they work. Perhaps it's more due to the 300 & 600m case rating because I don't think I've ever heard the complaint about an 8500 AT 150. My GMT II-C has a very flat, comfortable case back and wears about like my Speedy. The big dial/fat case designs don't do much for me.____________________________TT OysterQuartzSS/Black U DaytonaTT GMT II-CDD OysterQuartzBreitling AeroOmega Speedmaster Pro
Nautilus Braclet to Strap
Chaps, I am trying to find out the exact route to change a bracelet 5726 to a strap version. My understanding is that the end-links are different on the 5726 strap vs the 5726 bracelet; therefore, the Patek strap won't fit.Does anyone know the route to made this modification and can anyone give me a list of suppliers for a quality strap. My assumption is that someone will be making an after-market strap that fits the end links on the 5726 bracelet and therefore, all you'd need to do is purchase a deployant from Patek. Any and all advice welcome! TIA
16622 Yachtmaster...why was not so popular?
I was just wondering why the original steel Yachtmaster was not very popular nor does it seem popular on the forum. I used to own one and traded it a while ago when I got a Platinum Day Date...also long gone. I actually thought it was a great watch with great lines and was supremely comfortable. I know other watches are not deemed popular like the 42mm Exp II (I have 2 of those...the controversial SAS models) but looking at some for sale sites show fairly low prices for the YM and it seems like a good buy at current levels.
