E7936310 . . . Vs ????
Im looking to pickup a Breitling Aerospace .. . not sure why .. . . LOL.I got a good look at this watch and the more i wear watches i find this may be a good . . .Grab-And-Go watch. Sometimes im running late and NEED a watch to tell how far behind i am ... the extra time to pickup a watch that has not been on a winder would be very nice (Instead of grabbing up one of my Citizen Eco-Drives).What is the difference in the most recent series and the previous . . . which should i get (based on your opinion)? Please Share anything you can .. . Links . . .. news stories . .. . Opinions!I like the newer model mentioned in the title of this Post .. . but im not against an older model as well.John
New Incoming: Omega 'Skyfall' Aqua Terra
Seems buying watches are like waiting for buses, you spend ages waiting for one then two come along together. Having just made space in the watch box for an AP Jumbo, this has now arrived and so the fun continues. So what is it? Well it's a blue dialled Omega Aqua Terra, commonly referred to as the 'Skyfall' AT on account of it featuring in the Bond film of the same name (although the keen eyed amongst you will know that Daniel Craig wore the smaller 38.5mm version). The model reference 231.10.42.21.03.001 comes with 41.5mm diameter case and has the trademark vertically textured teak dial. It comes up a little bloated in terms of thickness, at 13mm, due to the in-house caliber 8500 movement. Saying that, however, it's still incredibly wearable and very comfortable on the wrist. A few more details: Movement: in-house caliber 8500 with co-axial escapementPower reserve: 60 hoursWater resistant: 150mSo is the Aqua Terra a sports or dress watch? In my opinion, it's both and neither. Quite f
A cherished one returns to the fold
This one returned to the collection on Monday and has been on my wrist ever since:This is a custom Speedy that I put together back in 2006 and was my second project watch (PW2). The movement came out of an early 80's beater given to me by a friend:Unfortunately I sold it in 2008 to help fund the Explorer II and have grieved ever since. Fortunately, the purchaser has graciously allowed me to have him back.My new LiquidMetal Planet Ocean and GMT IIc must be wondering what happened. They've sat on the winder since Monday. PW2? What's a PW2?, they must be asking.Fr. John?
Question regarding power reserve........
.Which model Omega has the longest PR?
40 year old life reflection
In a few short months I will be 40 years old and it may me realize how short life really is. I decided to get myself a 5970r. I remember just a short 15 years ago I graduated school with no money and $200,000 in student loan debt. Just 7 ears ago I purchased my first very nice watch a Zenith Chronomaster GT for 6K and I had a nervous breakdown and anxiety for several weeks. Over the years I purchased ands sold many watches until I realized it was Patek was my real love. Interestingly this purchase did not cause me any anxiety or even excitement it just felt right. I remember I was in lover the 5970r the first time I saw it years ago and I remember thinking what kind of person would spend that much money on a watch? This year I visited the Patek Museum and the really got to appreciate the perpetual chronograph and decided that I should have the watch I always wanted. How much longer will I really be on this earth. I hope my purchase inspires you to purchase the watch you always wanted.
