Porsche Design Group Ends Watch Production Relationship With Eterna
Interesting news today as Porsche Design and Eterna have announced that they have terminated their watch making relationship. For years Porsche Design (designed) watches were produced by the Swiss watch maker Eterna, located in Grenchen, Switzerland. As of March 10th, 2014, the two companies have announced the termination of their license agreement to develop, produce, and sell Porsche Design branded timepieces.Sadly, I did see this coming. Porsche Design has aligned itself with some interesting watch companies over the years including, most notably, IWC. Their run with Eterna helped them to produce some of the highest quality, most interesting Porsche Design watches since the company's beginning in 1972. It seemed like Eterna was an excellent and long lasting partner. Eterna had its own problems though, and while very interesting, Eterna brand timepieces were not doing as well as they could have been.In a sense, Eterna watches were plagued by being too focused on interesting movements

Last night HODINKEE co-hosted a fascinating event with the Horological Society of New York, to celebrate independent watchmaking and the great Kari Voutilainen. The Q&A event took place at The Varick Room at Tribeca Cinemas. The event started at 7 p.m. with an open bar. The room was buzzing with fellow watchmakers, collectors and enthusiasts alike, all excited to meet and hear Mr. Voutilainen speak. 1 OF 7 Benjamin Clymer led the Q&A, starting at 8 p.m., where he and Mr. Voutilainen spoke of his childhood dream of working with his hands and being independent and how he managed to achieve this through dedication, hard work, and perseverance. A friend of min asked her to help her put a value on these two watches so that she can sell them. She's told me that she has the box and paperwork for both but I have yet to see anything in person. I would appreciate if anyone can help me identify and give me an idea on value. Thanks guys!

Couldn't Stop At Just One Patek
Thanks so much to Texex for his invaluable help and guidance, I now have my second Patek, and it's amazing. Even without being sized, it's the most comfortable watch I own, including the RM Lotus, and the most eye-catching. I've looked at gold-bracelet AP's and Rolexes before, but never found one that I loved so much or matched my skin tone so well.
