Jaeger-LeCoultre: Gorgeous New Atmos Clocks
Jaeger-LeCoultre has been producing stunning Atmos clocks for more than 80 years, and at SIHH two new models debuted that continue the tradition. One is a re-edition of a 1930s clock, and the other a contemporary piece in Baccarat crystal designed by Marc Newson. In 1928, the engineer Jean-Lon Reutter devised a clock movement designed to run for several centuries without wearing out or requiring any external intervention. Fascinated by this revolutionary invention, Jaeger-LeCoultre applied its manufacturing capabilities to developing and perfecting the mechanism, and the Atmos clock was born. The Atmos mechanism is a marvel of engineering. It is powered by minute temperature fluctuations. Even a 1 degree Celsius change is enough to provide 48 hours of power reserve. Its annular balance also operates in an amazingly economical manner: by oscillating just two times per minute, its energy consumption is 250 times less than that of a conventional wristwatch. VIDEO: Inside The Hublot Manufacture With Life + Times
Courtesy of our friends at Life+Times, here we have a nice inside look at the Hublot manufacture in Nyon, Switzerland. Mr. Jean-Claude Biver, Hublot's Chairman of the Board, discusses Hublot's proprietary gold-ceramic alloy, his quest to "conquer tomorrow," and perhaps most interesting of all, what he learned from his previous employers Audemars Piguet and Omega.? Enjoy.

Has anybody picked one of these up? Would love to see some pics and wrist shots.

Vibration when Winding
My wife doesn't wear her 31mm DJ very much and today I put it in the winder in my safe. Before I put it in I decided to wind it and set the correct date and time. When I wound it I could feel it vibrating in my hand, very similar to a cell phone vibrating. It was tight, but has always been tight compared to my larger crown watches. I only gave it 5 or six turns to get it started and put it on the winder. I'm thinking the rotor is spinning with the winding action? I had the watch serviced in Oct 2014, and it hasn't seen a lot of use since then.Any thoughts?
