Allow me to ask a question to my valued Chinese readers. Exactly how important is the number 8 in Chinese culture? I know that it is considered a powerful and positive symbol, but how drawn are people to wanting items which intentionally focus on the number 8? Let me put it another way; is a good luck charm lucky because it has some special or unique quality? Or is a good luck charm lucky because people label it as lucky? I just see a lot (and I mean a lot) of high-end wrist watches that either focus on or feature the number 8 in some capacity. Most of them don't hide that they do so to attract Chinese customers. Service mainspring only?
Question about service.My moonwatch has a broken mainspring (I think). It winds until you hear an audible skip inside the movement, then keeps winding. Keeps time ok now, but power reserve has gone way down.Until I broke it the watch was winding smoothly, running perfectly, etc.Took it to an NYC watchmaker and they would only do a full service... but what if I just want this one problem fixed for now?Is that possible? bad idea? any recommendations in the NYC area?Thanks

Datejust redesigned case - How fast will SS and DD follow?
I know it's guessing but based on the past, how fast will Rolex release the updated Datejust in SS and offer new/other dial configurations? Or is this something reserved for Basel 2019? I like the TT but I rather get a SS DJ with a special (blue) dial.And I was wondering if they would change the 36mm Day-Date case as well? Go through the whole DJ and DD line-up (except the DD40).
