Close-Up: 5 Grand Seiko Watches That Pay Homage to 1964 Classic
Last year, Seiko added several new models to its prestigious Grand Seiko watch collection. Along with the new hi-beat GMT models, which we covered here, these Grand Seiko watches include five new models that pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of a fondly remembered Grand Seiko from 1964.The Grand Seiko Homage to 1964 watches are all limited editions, with three of the watches equipped with Seiko’s hybrid mechanical-quartz Spring Drive movement and the other two containing a high-precision quartz movement, Seiko Caliber 9F82. The clean simplicity of the new Grand Seiko models echoes that of the 1964 Seiko “Self-dater,” the very first Grand Seiko watch to incorporate a date window. The “Self-dater” intended to be a more “practical” version of the original Grand Seiko is a favorite among devotes of Seiko’s historical watch models. The three watches with the Caliber 9R15 Spring Drive movement (References SBGA103, SBGA105, and SBGA107) in
My First Grail Watch: Rudy Chavez Of Baume & Mercier
Welcome back to an original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch." In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. Today, we're speaking with Rudy Chavez, president of the North American arm of Baume & Mercier. Read on to learn what model from the B&M catalog eludes him even to this day.watches-dealer (ABTW): Who are you, and what is your relationship to the watch industry?Rudy Chavez: My name is Rudy Chavez and I am the President of Baume & Mercier, North America.ABTW: When did your fascination with watches start?Rudy Chavez: I had just started college and was working part-time in a jewelry store in New Jersey. The best part of the job was being able to share in the special moments of our clients, and to assist them in selecting the perfect timepiece for themselves or their loved one.A

Patek Nautilus VS Aquanaut
Patek Nautilus (SS) VS Aquanaut (either rubber or SS), which would you pick and why?I used to think the Nautilus SS was nice, but recently I grew to like the look of the rubber Aquanaut. If I had to choose one, I can't make up my mind though.Thoughts?
New Patek owner with questions!
Glad to finally be part of this esteemed group! I got a 5712R as my first and quickly realized this isn't a Rolex. For one, I read you have to jam a screwdriver to manually change moonphase. If the watch runs out of power reserve and you set it again with the crown, will the moonphase update with it?Also this watch is on a strap, which is my first also. Do these Pateks offer solid water resistance? If I accidentally leave the crown open, is it still waterproof like a Rolex? Is it ok to jump in the pool?If I need to service my Patek, is there a local Service Center like Rolex does in Beverly Hills? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
