Fashion Watch: Guest Editor On Lifestyle Mirror
Last week I had the privilege of acting as the guest editor on the popular fashion website Lifestyle Mirror. It was an interesting experience, and proved useful to communicate to a non-watch cultured audience. Doing so always helps keep me grounded because it is easy to forget that we use a lot of terms on watches-dealer that many people aren't familiar with. I helped the Lifestyle Mirror readers decide how much to spend on a watch, how to choose a watch for the right occasion, what watches are cool right now, and of course a bit about myself. They did a nice job, and I would particularly like to thank the friendly and talented Taylor Davies who helped put "Arielisms" into Lifestyle Mirror speak. Here are the first posts from my guest editor week at Lifestyle Mirror:Introducing Ariel AdamsTips for Buying WatchesHow Much to Spend on a WatchAriel Adams InterviewWatch Gift Guide
Bell & Ross WW1 & PW1 Argentium Watches
The last major Bell & Ross watch that we haven't covered yet for 2012 is the WW1 and PW1 Argentium collection. I believe Bell & Ross CEO Mr. Carlos Rosillo himself was wearing a WW1 Argentium watch when I checked out this collection among other Bell & Ross pieces. For me, this is one of the most curious models. While not limited in production, it is a very niche timepiece. It will no doubt be selectively produced and offered in limited locations. A very interesting watch that is still very much a Bell & Ross. What is Argentium you ask? It is a trademarked name for a special modern version of sterling silver. The name comes from "argent" which among other things, is the French term for silver. Argentium is a relatively recent version of sterling silver from the 1990s. Its most notable property is being highly tarnish resistant. Traditional silver tarnishes and must be polished frequently. For this reason I believe silver is quite rarely used for watch cases. Please let me in on the jumbo (40th anniversary model)
I may get some flack for this but why is the jumbo the most coveted royal oak? I know of its horological significance but do people buy this model because of its heritage or because of the way it looks and wears? There may be an impression it may look too plain. For those who currently own this, did its horological value (Genta DNA, etc) outweigh its aesthetics when upon purchasing? Please don't get me wrong. I know this is a FANTASTIC timepiece. Just torn between this or the royal oak chronograph. I fancy the chrono more aesthetically, but I may be missing out on something very important with the 15202.
Help. I can only buy one.
GentsOk, it's time to pull the trigger and I would like to know what your thoughts are on this. All of them have their pros and cons. Hopefully your insights will give me that extra push to make the best possible desision. Jules audemars ChonoNovelty 44mm ssROO Panda ss
