MB&F Brings Kinetic Art By Bob Potts To Its M.A.D. Gallery In Geneva
Watches, especially the high-end, more animated ones are often referred to as "kinetic art." This time, however, with the aid of?MB&F,? we are taking a step away from timepieces to appreciate the beautifully animated statues of an American gentleman called Bob Potts. We have long known the so-called M.A.D. Gallery of MB&F to feature?exceptional artists, working in greatly different fields from building unique motorcycles to amazing guitars. And while each of those were astonishing in their own right, we feel the moving hand-crafted objects of Potts are what make our horologically inclined hearts beat faster; so let's take a closer?look at some of the pieces that will be on display at the Gallery until October.[vimeo 93151146 w=730 h=411]As Bob puts it: "My work is the manifestation of ideas that come to me from the natural world." And while there are exceptions, like this incredible?ancient ship called the Cosmographic Voyager with 18 simultaneously moving rowers, it is true th
Girard-Perregaux 1966 Automatic 41mm Watch Auction For Kidney Research Charity
It is indeed a small world. I'd like to share with you a charity auction featuring a Girard-Perregaux timepiece which is connected to my family (the charity not the watch). Girard-Perregaux has donated a new 1966 Automatic 41mm watch (new for 2012) that is currently being auctioned-off in support of the University Kidney Research Organization (UKRO).The UKRO was started by a close relative of mine to research diseases of the kidneys. He started the foundation while he was undergoing dialysis treatments while waiting six years for a kidney transplant. Millions of people all over the world suffer from kidney disease, the causes of which are largely unknown. UKRO is an non-profit charity which has successfully funded extremely important kidney disease research and is managed by some of the fields top nephrologists. It will continue to do so.It is also a good time to mention this larger version of the Girard-Perregaux 1996 Automatic watch that comes in a pleasantly sized 41mm wide 18k rose
Size of the new 2014 42mm's...
Do the new Navy for example wear smaller than lets say the Rubbelclad? or the old 'Navy'?I have not had a chance of trying them out yet but heard they should sit thinner on on the wrist....
Speedy Moonphase Revisited
So since I had a day to kill I took 150 mile round trip drive to the nearest Omega dealer to actually see this piece on my wrist as others have said it definitely wears smaller than 44.25MM and I got to see the black on a bracelet and the Blue on leather. Both are quite stunning in the flesh I might have went for the blue on a bracelet but I have this tremendous bias towards black watches anyway after trying it on and seeing it in the flesh I pulled the trigger on a black/bracelet should have it by Friday! Traded my SMP I just like the Tudor HBB too much to let it go.
Is my AD full of it?
Hi folks. I have unfortunately not been able to be active here for a while. Back in 2016, I searched high and low for an AD that would negotiate substantially. I finally found one, bought my first Rolex, and have been referring many family, friends, and Forum members to them with great success. Fast forward to yesterday, I contacted the owner with a request for a friend, and below was his reply - which is totally out of character. My question is if there is any truth to his response, or is he full of it, like the typical Rolex AD is?All Rolex's on serious backorder and allocation. Especially models like the Sky Dweller's. Im afraid the days of any substantial discounts, even for good customers, is over.
