Royal Oak Winding Question
Hi everyone, I'm hoping to get some advice on my first AP, a 15400. I've had the watch for a few weeks now and although I wear it daily, it has stopped running on two occasions already. The manual states that when manually winding it the crown should be turned At least 30 times and the selfwinding movement should take it from there. I had wound it with exactly 30 full turns of the crown and then worn it normally except when I was at work so each day the watch sits still from eight to twelve hours before I get home and put it on again. This routine has always worked fine when my daily wearer was a Rolex but not with the AP. Most recently I returned home from work, put the watch on (still running, time correct) and wore it for a couple hours, then after falling asleep on the couch I found that it had stopped when I woke up. Kind of frustrating. Is it possible that I need to give the crown more revolutions when manually winding to get the full power reserve or did I just end up with a lem
Official Panda Unveiling
I unveiled my Panda on Monday this week after bring our new daughter home from the hospital.Note to self: Buy wife jewellery from her favourite store each time, worked a charmNo fall out, maybe it was the new baby but I though it was better safe than sorry.I will be able to wear it finally this weekend after nearly two months in the safe
YG PP Sighting
One of my customers was wearing this the other day. I have got to say, this watch was just beautiful in person. I snuck this picture when he was chatting with someone else. I would have asked for a better shot, but this guy is way old school and I did not want to potentially offend him. Probably no big deal to you whales over here in the deep end of the ocean, but I was blown away and figured I would share.
Milestone watch: what should I get?
I'm looking at what I'd like to add to my modest collection in anticipation of a few big milestones this year. I'm having a bit of trouble choosing what to pair with my Explorer. I can only purchase one watch. I've narrowed it down a good bit so far:Submariner - Classic and timeless, but also black faced like my Exp. I go back and forth on date/no date as well, but I think I'm leaning towards the 114060 between the two.Milgauss Z-Blue - The first Rolex that I really fell for. The color is incredible, but definitely a less versatile piece. It also has a polished bezel like my Explorer, so I don't love the similarity there.SD4Kc - One of my favorite watches. They've been ticking up in price recently, but with some searching I think I could find a reasonably priced one. Main issue here is cost.I'm open to other options as well!
Is An All Gold Watch Worth the Price?
I've only done some very minor calculations, but it seems that an all gold watch, let's say a Submariner, is much more expensive than a SS version, and at the same time, the value of the gold itself does not seem to match the higher price. For example, msrp for a SS Sub Date is 8,550. But a gold Sub Date is like 26k. I don't think there is 17k worth of gold in that watch, is there? Maybe 8-10k at most. Is the gold just harder to work with? What else might account for the price difference?
