Vacheron Constantin Celebrates With the Friends of the Paris Opera and Ballet
On Saturday, November 20, Paris' Palais Garnier played host to Vacheron Constantin as well as hundreds of the Manufacture's guests for the much-anticipated 30th anniversary celebration of the AROP (Friends of the Paris Opera and Ballet). Presiding over the occasion were Jean-Louis Beffa, President of the AROP, Nicolas Joel, Director of the National Opera of Paris, and Brigitte Lefvre, Director of Dance. Vacheron Constantin was represented by CEO Juan-Carlos Torres, Marc Guten, the International Director, and Jean-Yves di Martino, the Director of France for the manufacture. Guests had the opportunity to admire the Vacheron Constantin watch “Mtiers d'Art C Chagall et l'Opra Garnier” manufactured specifically for this event to celebrate the anniversary. The dial of this unique timepiece reproduces in remarkable detail and quality the famous ceiling of the Opera painted by Marc Chagall. Tag Heuer is a curious?brand in that its pieces are diverse in its price range. It makes relatively affordable quartz pieces and at the same time also has some truly outstanding and costly watches such as the Monaco V4 Tourbillion and the MikroPendulumS. And earlier this year at Baselworld, it announced a brand new chronograph movement called the CH80 and a new watch that will feature this new movement called the Carrera CH80. The watch was positively received and many were looking forward to its launch. However, production was delayed time and again and the latest news seems to indicate that Tag Heuer will cease production altogether. This all sounds very drastic, and in this round-up, we feature an article that takes a considered look at why this has happened. If we were to take a look at the individuals who have contributed most to horology, many of them would be British. Here are some examples: John Arnold, John Harrison, George Graham, Thomas Mudge, and more recently, George Daniel

Superb timepiece -- almost dressy. The mesh band is striking.
Considering trading/selling my Explorer I (39mm) for Omega Aqua Terra
First of all, I'm sure I'll regret this because I love my Explorer. It's one of the most comfortable watches I've ever owned and I just love the look. HOWEVER, the one thing that is starting to bother me is the lack of date. With that said, I've been considering a similar watch/look/pedigree, so the 41.5 Omega Aqua Terra Calibre 8500 is a possible replacement. I need to check it out in person, because I'm not sure if I'll like the teak look of the dial. Perhaps I should also consider an older Aqua Terra for the glossy black dial? Anyone make the switch that I'm considering making? Looking forward to your thoughts, Here is my ExplorerExplorer 39mm by synth19, on Flickr
Why on Earth would Rolex create a brown bezel GMT?
The color of the new brown GMT bezel is not even close to the original root beer bezel, which is more golden, the 2018 bezel is pure brown. Brown is almost universally considered the ugliest color, it is the color of mud, dirt and waste matter. What on Earth were they thinking? I suppose a similar question could be asked about the bezel on the platinum Daytona, the brown does not match the beautiful ice blue dial at all.
