Talking Watches: With Jonathan Ward
Watch lovers come in all forms – whether it be news photographers turned Spanish-language talk show hosts, late 1990s hip hop stars, or just all around cool guys. Another form a watch lover might take could be that of Jonathan Ward, founder of Icon 4x4. For those who aren't familiar, Icon just might be making the most advanced and best all around SUV's on planet earth. This isn't us saying that, it's a well known fact. Jonathan Ward's Icon 4x4's are built from the ground up, keeping the vintage styling that we all love so much in the early Ford Broncos and Toyota FJ's, but now they are carbon coated, and feature absolutely cutting-edge technology. Icon makes just a handful of trucks per year – now with a waiting list over around three years for a new order – and they have become something of a calling card for those in the know. In off-roading circles, Jonathan Ward is a hero, but what many may not know is that many of the designs and mater
Bonhams To Offer Historical Heuer Chronographs At Goodwood Revival This Weekend, Including A Gold Carrera Given To Ferrari Driver Arturo Merzario
This year’s Bonhams vintage car auction at the Goodwood Revival features a selection of fantastic memorabilia, vehicles, and a fantastic selection of vintage watches with some sort of relation to cars. The group (lots 60-77) feature makers such as Omega, Girard Perregaux, Corum, and of course, Heuer. Below we have picked a few of our favorites. The auction takes place this Saturday, September 12th. Can we get some Yachtmaster 116622 pics!
I feel like this is a very underrated watch that deserves attention. It's crossed my mind to get one over the years, maybe TRF can help.
Batman joins the Hulk
So I was lucky enough to pick up a 116610lv earlier this year which I thoroughly have enjoyed. I have since I first seen the 116710BLNR I've always fancied picking one up. On my travels I see quite a few GMT's in the blue/black in US stores but they are like hen's teeth in UK AD's. So after 4 or 5 months on the waiting list, the call from my trusted AD arrived yesterday and I am now the proud owner of a colourful GMT II.Stickers are still on, as I'm trying to decide whether to lock it away for a year or two or wear it, as I love the LV so much...It's interestingly slightly thinner than the Submariner to my eye, maybe the lesser depth rating.Anyway, I'm very happy with my collection.Interestingly they had a two tone Sky Dweller (gold/steel) for list. I was tempted but rule is always stainless sports models for me.Feeling very lucky to have picked up these two, and my AD will have another sale as soon as they find me a Sea Dweller red dot.... Now the ceramic daytona - if only....
