Alpina Startimer Classic Automatic Chrono Watch Has Very Sad Hands
WTF Alpina? Seriously, is this a joke? Does this watch suffer from hereditary dwarfism? Can you even call a 44mm wide watch a dwarf? Oh, I am sorry, I meant "little watch." No, the watch is the right size, but the hands, those sad pathetic looking hands, are shrunken at the least. Look at them looking all sad? Even the chronograph subdial hands feel bigger.I have no clue what Alpina was thinking when their designer approved the hands on this Startimer Classic Automatic Chronograph watch. More like TinyTimer. This is exactly the type of crap that pisses me off. This watch makes me want to yell obscenities. Everything else about this watch is fine if you are going for that retro chronograph watch look - but those hands, what the hell is up with those stupid tiny hands? This isn't just a mistake, this is horological abuse.Do I need to even explain to anyone why or how the hour, minute, and chronograph seconds hands are small beyond excuse? Maybe this is a joke. I could not hold back-- Incoming!!!
I was really trying to resist getting the Patek 5990. I think this watch had a gravitational pull��. on me at least. I love my Patek 5164 dual time as it is so easy to change the time setting without messing anything else up, it is under the radar when traveling, and so easy to wear--- but I also love chronographs�� I also like the look and feel of my Nautilus 5712. This has to be one the most comfortable watches i have ever worn.. well i do digress--I had written to my Patek AD some time back and never heard back. I assumed either they missed the email and/or did not have but it not being the best time for me to buy-- i let it go.. Sorry if you're being annoyed by these posts, I just appreciate the opinions of others when making these decisions Down to two. 16570 M serial with a 3186 movement and engraved rehaut (doesn't include warranty card but has box and booklets)($5500 Canadian shipped)Or 116400 V series. Black dial clear crystal. Has a small scratch on crystal at 5 o clock (purely cosmetic) but is full kit and overall good condition. ($6000 Canada FtF)Love both of these watches equally.
