Zenith Launches Limited-Edition El Primero Chronograph at 2015 Paris Tour Auto
Last week, I had the opportunity to join Zenith in Paris for the launch of the 2015 Tour Auto Optic 2000 classic car rally, which marked both the Swiss brand’s inaugural year as the Tour’s official timekeeper and the debut of the El Primero Chronomaster 1969 Tour Auto Edition timepiece. Scroll down for more on the event and the limited-edition watch.Zenith, founded in Le Locle, Switzerland in 1865 by George Favre-Jacot, commemorates its 150th anniversary this year, and the sponsorship of the Tour Auto, one of the most important events on the international classic-car-racing calendar, is but one of a number of initiatives the brand has taken to increase awareness of its many milestones and accomplishments. Watch aficionados and watch historians are undoubtedly familiar with some of these. Its founder Favre-Jacot, at the tender age of 22, was the first watch entrepreneur to bring all the stages of watch production under one roof, a revolutionary concept in an era when these a
Service rant
OK, not being a native speaker I am poor at rants How can it be fair that you have to pay regularly for overpriced servicing to a watch that was very expensive in the first place. Say, you buy a watch water proof to 300 meters, but if you don't change the 1$ rubber parts every 4 years, for like 200$ you can't trust taking a shower with it, and it's all YOUR fault It is a bit ironic, because I bought a high quality watch with some idea of it lasting for generations. Do I really own a watch or if I am an indentured servant to Omega? Am I the first one to get that thought?
Panerai plus
I have always been a one watch guy. Not sure why but I think in part because I could not see tying up a lot of money in several watches, and I don't like having to explain myself to the Wife. As a result, I have let go a couple of pieces which I would love to have back. Within the next year I have set a goal to acquire four watches which I really admire. They are ...1. PAM 422 (have)2. PAM 389 (can't stop drooling over) 3. Patek 5167A (can't stop staring at this one)4. Rolex GMTIIC (All black bezel and a re-buy for me)I will buy a winder and rotate them. Yes, that's about $50k in watches but you only live once and I'm already 1/4 of the way there. If YOU could assemble a collection of not more or less than four and at least one has to be a Panerai, what would they be? For those of you who already have more than four, narrow it to four only.
Honest question RE: LV vs LVc
I see a lot of references here regarding the Hulk submariner. When I go to the official Rolex website I see the model listed as a 116610LV. However, I regularly see it referred to as the LVc here on the forums. I've researched it and can't find the answer. Where does the c come in? What is the difference between a LV and a LVc?
