Basel Preview: Carl F. Bucherer Patravi EvoTec Calendar
At Baselworld 2011 Carl F. Bucherer will launch the newest member of the Patravi family, with a twist. The new model has a classic round case, and new complications. The manufacture CFB A1004 movement retains the brand’s signature peripheral rotor and adds an indication of the week to the big date, day and date indicators. Baselworld 2009 marked Carl F. Bucherer’s first step into the manufacture realm with the CFB A1000 caliber with unique, patent-pending features. In 2010, two more Patravi models were introduced: the EvoTec PowerReserve and EvoTec BigDate, both in cushion-shaped cases. At Baselworld 2011, Carl F. Bucherer will present the Patravi EvoTec Calendar, the first Patravi model in a round case. The 42.6mm case is available in stainless steel or 18K rose gold, with black or silver dials and black or brown calfskin straps. The big date at 11 confirms membership in the Patravi family, and that a manufacture CFB A1000-based movement beats inside. AP ROC RG or AP 44mm Ceramic
Hi guys,I happened to drop by the AP Boutique on Orchard road and had a chance to try out the new Offshore all ceramic as well as the 41mm ROC RG (both white & black dials)... I have never considered an ROC before as I have always limited my interest in AP to the ROOC models having owned an AP Panda as well as a 44mm FC earlier...The reason I let go my FC initially was my desire to get the all ceramic but now having tried on the ROC RG with the black face I am in a dilemma. Bothe watches have a sticker price which is nearly the same ie. 50K SGD... Which would you guys choose... Discounts on the ROC RG are quite good whereas the ceramic I'm sure will not be available at a good discount until a few more months...Appreciate your feedback :-)
Wanting to join the Panerai camp
I am looking to replace my Breitling Steelfish and am seriously thinking about Panerai. The reason I sold the Steelfish was because it was just too heavy (listed at 122 grams-not sure with bracelet or not) and it was constantly sliding into my wrist bone. I could never get comfortable with it. I currently have a Submariner that I love dearly although i would not want anything smaller on my 7.5 wrist. I am looking at an entry level Panerai like the 111, 112 etc. since I really like the clear caseback. I don't know how the watches feel nor what sort of wrist presence to expect. I also don't know if a leather band will change the way it feels on the wrist versus a metal bracelet like on the Breitling. Or should I be looking at a titanium model? As always y'all's expertise is welcomed.
slotted spring bars in place of lug screws
I notice that Micah has interesting springs bars intended to replace lug screws. I am thinking of picking these up for my 372 to make strap changes easier and reduce the chance of messing up the lugs with an errant slip of a screw driver. Anyone using these now?
