Concord Announces C Lab Series
Concord announces the creation of C Lab Series, a special unit that will research and develop cutting-edge timepieces. Concord describes C Lab Series as a “hub of expression and design, whose mission is to transform watchmaking. In this testing ground of ideas, science and engineering become an art-form while research and development becomes a discipline in its own right.” The C Lab Series will test and employ “futuristic” materials, and Concord plans to offer grants to universities and engineering schools to pursue “extraordinary watchmaking partnerships.”
My First Grail Watch: Steven Holtzman
Welcome back to an original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch". In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after.watches-dealer (ABTW): Who are you and what is your relationship to the watch industry?Steven Holtzman (SH): I am the founder of Ma?tres du Temps and a watch enthusiast from early childhood.ABTW: What was your first grail watch?SH: Actually, my grail watches have changed over the years based on my perception. As a child I had a great appreciation for old American timepieces. My first was the Gruen Curvex. The company dates back to 1894 and the current Rolex building you see from the train in the mountains of Bienne; was originally the Gruen factory.I was amazed by the curved mechanism and so enthralled by how someone could make a watch movement that was curved to fit the wrist. Surprise purchase Yesterday
Hi everyone. I went by my AD yesterday for a browse and tried on this beautiful Double Eagle that before hand, I had no interest in, never even looked at with a view to buying. Thant changed as soon as I had it one my wrist. This dial has to be one of Omega's finest and I love the size 44 mm on my wrist. The rubber strap feel amazing on. Unfortunately the DE in the AD had some minor marks and scratches through moving in and out the safe each day, so I'm awaiting a brand new one to arrive from Omega UK sometime very soon. But here's a Stock photo to go on with.
Yin and Yang
Separated at birth. I realize many collectors have a singular focus be it on brands, complications, military watches whatever. My own collection, while from time to time has been weighted towards certain brands, today spans a broad range. Patek holds just one position in the collection, this 5711. I have been thinking about adding another but up to now have not done so.I appreciate the knowledge shared here, thanks to all for their input.
