Watches In The White House 2010 - Obama, Biden, Kagan
Politics and watch lover aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer reader Eric sent me this perfect image showing off the watches of (from left to right), Joe Biden, Barack Obama, and Elena Kagan. I love the clarity here, and the visibility of the watches. Biden has been known to wear a few watches, including an Omega Seamaster, a Citizen, and here a Tissot T-Touch. Look at him show that puppy off - as though he is incredibly proud of it. Nothing under the sleeve! Good work Biden! Represent us watch lovers proudly. So let's take a quick look at the watches and what they mean and cost.Joe Biden is clearly the biggest watch lover of this trio. While Obama has a number of watches (I know, because I am told all the time by watch brands what models they give him). Here, he is wearing a first generation Tissot T-Touch watch on a rubber strap. You can click that link for a product page where you can see more specs and get one. It retails for $750 - being the priciest of the trio, but interestingly the least
Very pleasant experience at AP boutique in Geneva
Today I took my brand new watch into to the AP boutique in Geneva. I wasn't quite sure what reception I would get....I've been in there a couple of times recently trying on watches. I needn't have worried. The guy who has looked after me on both of my visits greeted me warmly, and his smile did not change as I explained that I had bought a watch elsewhere for 25% less. They were charming, gave me coffee, took great care sizing my watch for me, removed the stickers, and gave it back to me in one of their nice leather travel boxes. I couldn't possibly have been better looked after.I chatted with the head watch-maker and learnt a couple of interesting little things....one needs a 1.4mm screwdriver to add/remove links from an SS 15400 and 1.2mm for a gold one....and, wait for it.....they recommend use of a watch winder.I walked out of the boutique wearing my watch, and for the first time it felt like mine.
Mulling over an AP ROO
I have the following:1) Cartier de Calibre - White dial strap2) Rolex 116610 LN3) IWC 18K RG - 3714-82I am unloading a panerai 312 to help fund (more to not piss off the GF by having more than 4), but want to make the right AP choice. Based on what I got (I have dark complection if that makes a difference), should I get:A) AP ROO Black ThemesB) AP ROO Navy ThemesC) AP ROO SafariI'm thinking the navy will be a b*tch to pair clothes to it, but its pretty. The safari looks awesome with black gator, brown gator and rubber. The black themes seems to be under the radar.Thoughts??
My latest pickup
Just added this to my collection today. After a number of chronographs, the simple dial is a nice change-up for me.
Any experiences with bigg86969 on ebay Japan?
I have been watching the usual Japan ebay sellers for a 3572.50.Stumbled on this guy. He is a power seller of mostly Omega watches in Japan. I have been following his auctions and he seems legit. Any experiences with him would be appreciated. Thanks.
