Time Spec: Seiko 7A28 RAF Gen 1 Chronograph
A few months ago, we showed you the manually-wound mechanical chronographs issued by the British military pilots in the 1970s.? Today, we'll take a look at what came next.In the early 1980s, the military forces of the UK went looking for a new pilot chronograph to replace the Valjoux 7733-powered chronographs they had been issuing for the previous decade.? Should I trade my PAM for a SubC?
I've been progressively moving up the food chain since getting bit by the watch bug and recently purchased a PAM 510 from my local AD. It was my first luxury piece and certainly the most expensive to-date. I've never owned a Rolex and at the time I picked up the PAM I was considering either it or the SubC date, ultimately going with the PAM as it had been a desire for a long while and at the time felt the look better fit my style (I've always considered myself more on the raw/edgy side as opposed to reserved/classy). Fast forward a few months and now the Sub is keeping me up at nightCsomething about it's timeless appeal. I also struggle with strap fit throughout the day and love the idea of the glide-lock clasp. Ugh. Im also romanticized by and very seriously considering going down the 1-watch road, mostly because I'm growing tired of the dissonance I feel when choosing which to wear each morning. Im not sure I could do it with the PAM as it lacks a date and isn't as versatile imo. I'm
