German Watchmaking Struts its Stuff at WatchTime New York 2015
Despite a predominance of very fine Swiss watch brands (along with one notable brand each from Japan and the USA) at last weekend’s WatchTime New York event, Germany, especially the German watchmaking town of Glashtte, was well-represented also, winning over guests with some very distinctive timepieces. Here is a sampling. The most prestigious Glashtte brand, A. Lange & S?hne, was a must-visit for many WTNY guests. In addition to the new gold-cased, black-dialed version of its A. Lange & S?hne Datograph Up/Down with a flyback chronograph and large Outsize date indication the brand also had its new Zeitwerk Striking Time model on display as well as the all-new, F.A. Lange 200th Anniversary Saxonia model with proprietary honey gold case. Lange also wowed visitors with a live watchmaker plying his trade at a workbench in its booth.A. Interview with Steve Laughlin of Benarus Watches
It's no secret that the Worn&Wound staff has enjoyed the watches created by Raven and Benarus, as well as their accessories division Suppa Parts. The affiliated companies (by partners Steve Laughlin and Ralf Schreiner) are known for watches that draw from past designs as well as looks that are very original. In the past, we've reviewed the Raven Deep, Raven Vintage, Raven Deep Tech, and Benarus Megaladon and have been generally impressed with the looks, finishes and technical achievements. We had the opportunity to ask co-owner Steve Laughlin, who is based in Overland Park, Kansas, about the past of Raven/Benarus/Suppa and where the companies are heading. As always, keep on the lookout on the Raven and Benarus websites for the latest news on their releases, as certain models tend to sell out quickly with a devoted fan base. How do you and Ralf come up with your designs, which are inspired by the past yet possess unique facets that make it distinctly yours?Ralf and I will discuss our
Help: Is this Audemars Diver ok?
Hey guys,I'm along time lurker on the rolexforums and I'm looking for a long time to buy an Audemars Diver. Now I'm about to pull the trigger on this Diver tomorrow. As I'm not an expert in Audemars watches, I would be happy if you could tell me if this used Diver is ok. The seller is a professional seller but doesn't know if the watch was already serviced. The watch was originally sold in 2011 but only worn a few times as the seller states.I asked for some detailed pictures. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.Regards, Veit from Germany
I am sick for wanting a Quartz AP?
I recognise that a Quartz AP Royal Oak is never going to be a collectors choice, but I don't have the negativity many have towards Quartz movements. I have plenty of Automatic watches and manual wind for that matter. My Piaget is a mid size quartz and I enjoy its lightweight and narrow profile, I don't have a huge wrist and don't like the trend to bigger watches. A slim line dress watch is the opposite of my Chronographs. Unlike many AP fans that love the really complex and modern large AP Oaks, my only interest is in a classic style Royal Oak with a nice waffle face and two tone 18K gold, either as an Automatic or Quartz.I know the rolex Oysterquarz have a reasonable following and popularity with many collectors wanting one in their Rolex collection, there does not seem to be the love for the old Quartz Royal Oak's, as a dress watch I really like the profile. Is there something I should consider If I ultimately convince my wife that I need watch number #4 in 2012!!!!!!!!!I WANT YOU TO
