Watches NEWS
44 ROO Novelty Incoming
I made the decision to pull the trigger on this amazing piece.First time owning an all ceramic case so very special. We had some good weather today so took a couple pics.
UPDATE: Brand New ROO second visit to service center
So it seems like a smaller grouping of threads around these parts so you likely read one, or two of my previous threads regarding issues with my 3 month old ROO 42mm. If not here's the latest thread....rolexforums/showthread.php?t=470557And here's the update. Good news and bad news.Good news is I finally heard from a workshop manager. He told me he's been testing my watch and it seems to be within their standards and specifications.Obviously this is great. Since the beginning I've only wanted a watch in good working order that I wouldn't have to send in for repair. Here's the bad news, or really I should say more annoying news. As you know, since getting my watch back from the first visit to APSC, I'd noticed a sound coming from the movement. Never heard it before, combined with the fact that the grinding/rough sound of winding and screwing the crown down was still there I considered sending it back in.He told me in his email that the grinding sound I heard was normal. THIS WAS T
Looks like AP needs to step up their sponsorship game
They could at least give Stenson's caddy a ROO diver so he doesn't have to wear what looks to be a Rolex SD4k This is right before he put it in the water on 16. Let's go Fowler!!!
Service & Store or Just Store? - Omega Dynamic Chrono
Hey Folks,I've been organizing my safe and came across my first nice watch ever, given to me as a gift from my parents almost 20 years ago. This discontinued Omega Dynamic Chronograph has never been serviced and is definitely not functioning correctly. For starters, the timing is all over the place and chronograph will not reset properly.I stopped in the Omega Boutique a couple years ago and they told me it would be about $800 for the full service if I remember correctly. That seemed ludicrous to me, to invest that much money in a watch that's probably only worth a few hundred dollars more.So here's the thing, I never wear this watch. It's been in a safe one way or another for the past 10+ years. I of course care about it, and perhaps would wear it once and a while if it was functioning correctly. But for the most part this watch is stored in the safe 24/7.Here's my questions for you folks:Should I simply put the watch back in the safe since it's not really worn or should I service
GMT Bezel on an old Explorer II
I have an older model Rolex Explorer II that I want to put a black GMT bezel on. I've seen/heard it can be done from different sources on the net. But when I took my Explorer to a local watch shop, they told me my model explorer is one of only two years that this will not work on. I have the 16570. Anyone know if this is true or if the guy didn't know what he was doing? Or am I just wishful thinking? I'm kindof set on doing it if possible and disappointed if it can not be done with this model.
