Interview: Atom Moore: Watches Photographed Through The Eyes Of A Collector
Atom Moore, a New York City-based photographer, presents an exhibition of watch photography next month. "Watch Portraits" will open Thursday, September 3, 2015, with a reception at Sacred Gallery in SoHo from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. The exhibition will feature selections from two styles of photography Moore has developed over two years of working in the watch industry: macros, or extreme close-ups of one element of a modern watch; and mash-ups, or composites of images taken of several examples of the same model of vintage watch. 1 OF 9 On a searing late-August evening, Moore sat down with me in the Library Bar in the NoMad Hotel. We discussed what inspired him to photograph and collect watches. What began with a collection of Swatches (Moore owns “about 50,” by his reckoning) blossomed into a burgeoning collection that encompasses brands such as Jaeger LeCoultre and Breguet. Moore attributes this exposure to the wider world of watch collecting to R

New Omega Opinions
I have been pondering buying an Omega watch for several months. Since my vintage Connie ended up being a franken watch, I have not had an Omega in my collection.Last year I had the Speedy Broad Arrow in my sights, but ended up buying my Longines Master Series instead. So now I am looking to purchase. I am not sure which one to get. I like the Planet Ocean, but want the 2900.50.37, which is the large black bezel on the brown alligator strap. My question is this, since I do not dive, would I be better off looking for a dressier model? Also do most here have the SMP on the bracelet? The SMP is the watch I keep looking at on line. Still I have never tried one on and am not sure how the 45mm will wear on my wrist compaired to the 42mm. I don't know why I am drawn to it, except I do want my next watch to be some what sporty and have always wanted another Omega.Another one I have been thinking about is a Speedy, just for the history of the watch. The Broad Arrow is out of my budget, so it wou
rolex date date platinum - different ice blue dials ?
I have just fulfilled one of my dreams. After buying in the past years a patek calatrava, a lange etc. I went back to rolex and bought a day date in platinum. I have a question regarding the ice blue dial As you can see in these pictures the model without diamonds have a typical ice-blu color The one I decided to buy has a lighter or more muted ice blue as you can see below. Both are brand new and from the rolex boutique:Here you can see it in natural light:The boutique was not entirely sure about the difference but the assumption is that the ice blue colour changed from the previous one (the one in the diamond version that I got) vs. the new one that is darker. What do you think ?Did I make the right choice ? :)ThanksChristian
