Devon Tread 2 Watch Preview
In a few weeks California-based Devon will unveil the follow-up version to their now famous Devon Tread 1 watch. It was originally explained to me that the Tread 2 watch would be a more simple and inexpensive model. It looks as though a lot of that has changed, but what I do think is still part of the Tread 2 based on early information is that it will have two treads versus three. The Tread 1 has a constantly running belt for the seconds which was cool, but was also a bit loud and consumed a lot of power. The new model will have two tread as I understand it, and a whole lot more.The Tread 2 will have a lot of material upgrades and a more sophisticated design. It will also be very accurate and come in a smaller package. I reviewed the very cool Tread 1 here, and you can see that it is a large timepiece. 70's Retro Done Well: Louis Vuitton Tambour Diver Watch
It is easy to find the style of the 1970s unappealing. Despite the fact that it is "coming back," (from what I hear) it was an era of too many browns, too much synthetics, and too much hair. One thing however that the 1970s encouraged was large size. Big hair, big cars, big pants, and big watches. Especially the diving watches. While many of these things are coming back, so are big watches. 40mm cases are now considered small or average, and most watches, which matter, are approaching 44mm or even 50mm (and larger). The Louis Vuitton Tambour Diver takes large size, with its 70's browns, and is able to present a very pleasing ,aesthetic highly reminiscent watch with a 70s modern design.The first thing I noticed when I saw the case of the watch was its tapered look. Seamaster Pro vs Planet Ocean
I have got restless, irritating, itchy feet. I am not in position to by a Planet Ocean without flipping a watch. Sold my Tudor Sub, and have got my Turnograph for sale, but saving that money for a 5513 or 1680.I have been offered a 42mm PO with Orange bezel for a good price, but it means flipping my Seamaster Pro, which is the 42mm automatic version.. (I have tried on a 45mm and its just way too big for me).What should I do? Stick with the Pro or go for the Planet Ocean?

As between 5970G and 5970J, which do you prefer and why?A few personal thoughts:1. 5970J appears to have been the least produced having been in production for only 1 year and with approx. 450 produced vs. approx. 850 of the 5970G.2. Yellow gold feels more vintage and timeless. White gold is more versatile and may stand the test of time better. 3. Yellow gold might have more character as opposed to white gold.
