SIHH: Calibre de Cartier Multiple Time Zone Watch With Caliber 9909 MC
Calibre 9909 MC is the first multiple time zone movement to feature in Cartier's Fine Watchmaking Collection, housed in a Calibre de Cartier watch. The movement is entirely developed and produced within the Cartier Manufacture. At SIHH today, Cartier presented a new version of the multiple time zone complication, which aims to provide:– the home time with day/night indication, the traveler's local time, adjustment for summer or daylight savings time and C something quite unique C the time difference between the two selected time zones, which some might call the jet lag display.– excellent readability of all the functions in a limited space– simple setting and checking of all functions and displays.Home time is indicated on the lower dial in the center of the watch by a day/night hand featuring sun and moon symbols. Local time in the traveler's location is shown by the main hands, which enable the second time zone to be read directly. The self-winding Caliber 9909 MC di
Oakley Time Bomb II Watch Remembered
We felt as though it was time to cover an interesting model and brand not yet discussed on watches-dealer. Mostly known as a sunglasses maker, Oakley also has a rather interesting line of high-end as well as affordable watches. They are also one of the first big-name US brands to enter the "not cheap crap" watch market. I believe it was about 1999 when the brand's now famous "Time Bomb" watch was released. In 2009 they debuted the Time Bomb II watch as a follow-up to the original.Mixing a Swiss-made automatic movement and a uniquely designed case, the point of the Time Bomb II was to be original as well as useful enough for daily wear. The Time Bomb II exists in Oakley's "Elite" collection of products which are its highest-end items which tend to be pretty cool. Good materials and a lot of engineering seems to connect all the Elite products together. The design of the watch is quite unique and reminds me of something an American who grew up watching Japanese cartoons would design. That
Ferrari had become the third largest producer of watches
Both the brother Csar and Louis-Paul passed away in the year 1903 leaving the empire they had built in the hands of four young people. Even in 1903 the company used to produce no less than 240,000 watches per year. Ferrari traveled a long distance since then and by the 1970s Ferrari had become the third largest producer of watches around the world and the largest producer in Switzerland. During the economic crisis in between the years 1975 and 1980 though the company suffered heavy losses and after a series of mergers and restructuring the Ferrari brand is now manufactured under the umbrella of the Swatch group.
Hands-On: With The Girard-Perregaux 1966 Column-Wheel Chronograph (Live Pics, Pricing, Thoughts)
One of the most exciting new launches at Basel World 2013 was Girard-Perregaux's manually wound integrated chronograph.? We told you about it on the very first day of the show here, and now we're back with live photos and thoughts.First things first, this watch was a long time coming.? GP has been making nice looking chronos for years in its 1966 collection, but, as Jason said in our Week On The Wrist review of one, its a high-price to pay for a modular chronograph.? Of course others charge even more for modular chronos - we're looking at you AP Royal Oak Offshore - but that's a sport watch for a sporty guy who may not care so much about mechanics or horological purity.? The 1966 looks like a purist's watch, and now, finally, it has a purist's movement.? 2 OF 18 The old chronograph caliber in the 1966 was a GP3300 base with a dubois-depraz module attached.? It was self-winding, and rather nice, really, but just didn't make sense in a watch like this.? The rotor blocked h

Words do no justice!.......My AD was able to get me one on a weeks notice!
