Chronoswiss Sold to Swiss Investor
Munich-based watchmaker Chronoswiss has been sold to Swiss entrepreneur Oliver Ebstein, 37, and his wife Eva Maria. The Lucerne-based owners are new to the watch industry, and they have said that Chronoswiss will be owned by them privately, rather than through their investment company Meru AG. “Chronoswiss is to be retained as an independent family. It is our great pleasure to introduce ourselves here to get involved in the long term, and sooner or later to direct the company itself. We want to continue the tradition of using high-quality mechanical watch components. Therefore, we look forward to working together with all employees on the success of Chronoswiss,” said Oliver Ebstein.Former Chronoswiss managing director Pete Josef Burgmayer remains on board, though Sigrun Schilling-Heinen will not continue with the firm. When talking watches and Formula 1, one name comes up again and again- Heuer, or in more recent times TAG Heuer, and this series would be remiss without at least touching on the contributions TAG has made to both fields. TAG, short for Techniques d'Avant-Garde, made its F1 debut in 1980 as a sponsor for Williams GP, but their involvement in the sport grew soon afterward in 1983 when they co-developed the TAG-Porsche V6 power plant for the McLaren team.A deep professional partnership soon grew between the TAG and McLaren, and when TAG purchased Heuer in 1985, the newly created TAG Heuer brand quickly became McLaren's secondary sponsor behind Marlboro. So for Christmas, I am giving her either a BNIB SD43 just got today or a stickered Black Ceramic Daytona I’ve worn for a few hours.I already bought both. Not sure which one to give her, the honest truth is, not sure which one I want to keep! She doesn’t know I have either.She doesn’t share her watches so whatever I give her I will never have an opportunity to wear. She currently wears Panerai so she really likes the bigger face watches.
